The monthly assembly on October 08, 2025 organized by KU Students Union and the Psychology Department, was so special as it was a time to commemorate the 28th anniversary of NISH, Gandhi Jayanthi, World Mental Health Day, Farewell to 2024-25 Kerala University Students Union and a special session by Dr Ammu Lukose, Assistant Professor at the Department of Counselling Psychology, Loyola College, Trivandrum on ‘How to Become Mentally Healthy’.

To commemorate the World Mental Health Day, the Mental Health Unit of the Occupational Therapy Outpatient Department organised a Group session on De-Stress activities for parents of children with special needs on 8.10.2025. NISH Executive Director Dr. Suja K. Kunnath graced the occasion.

Dr. Vinith Dani Jose J P, Head of Occupational Therapy Department and Dr. Anne Varghese, Head of Psychology Department, NISH added their insights during the session. The program highlighted the role of Occupational Therapy in promoting mental health well being through Model of Human Occupation - structured group interventions, enabling individuals to adapt healthier routines, improve coping skills, effective home programs and enhance overall quality of life. Parents gave their valuable feedback that they benefitted through the group session.
