Kerala Launches Advanced Skill Development Initiative: NSA, PDEU, and ASAP Sign Strategic MoU

Thiruvananthapuram: In a major step towards strengthening Kerala’s skill development ecosystem, the National Skill Academy (NSA), Gujarat-based Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU), and ASAP Kerala have signed a landmark tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to establish advanced training programmes at the ASAP Community Skill Park in Kalamassery, Kochi.

The MoU was exchanged in the presence of the Honorable Governor of Kerala, Shri Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar. The agreement was signed by Dr. Usha Titus, CMD of ASAP Kerala; Prof. Dr. S. Sundar Manoharan, Vice-Chancellor of PDEU; and Dr. M. V. Chandran, Chairman of NSA, along with Flemy Abraham, Director of NSA, and Jose Mathew, Managing Director of NSA.

The event was also attended by former Union Minister of State for External Affairs, Smt. Meenakshi Lekhi, and Dr. Mohanan Kunnummal, Vice-Chancellor of the Kerala University of Health Sciences, highlighting the broader national relevance of the initiative.

The collaboration aims to bridge the growing gap between academic learning and industry requirements by offering application-driven, industry-aligned training. While traditional education provides theoretical foundations, the modern job market increasingly demands practical expertise, adaptability, and problem-solving skills.

Training will focus on three key future sectors — Semiconductor Technologies, Biomedical Services, and Renewable Energy. The programmes will combine academic rigor with hands-on exposure, ensuring students are job-ready and globally competitive.

Officials noted that the initiative is designed to shift focus from degree-centric learning to capability-based development, fostering innovation and long-term employability. With this partnership, Kerala moves closer to becoming a hub for advanced skill training, aligned with emerging global workforce needs.
