Health and hygiene in trichy
An awareness program was conducted at Elite Special School, Trichy, on 20.01.2026, targeting special children. Mr. Vijayakarnan, Psychiatric Counsellor, served as the Guest Speaker and addressed the gathering on the topic โHealth & Hygiene.โ
Before the session began, fun games and ice-breaker activities were conducted, and the children participated actively and performed well.
The session highlighted basic hygiene practices, including the importance of handwashing, daily bathing, teeth brushing, and toilet hygiene (flushing the toilet and washing hands after using the toilet).
To ensure better understanding, the See, Do, Say method was used, which helped the children grasp the concepts easily. Although these were basic topics, they were reinforced effectively. During the programme, role-play activities were conducted to demonstrate proper handwashing and teeth-brushing techniques. The children actively repeated the hygiene related words and instructions during the session.
At the end of the session, a two-line song on health and hygiene was sung, and the children repeated the lines enthusiastically
The childrenโs participation and responses were very good, and all students attended attentively. The children remained actively engaged. Approximately 30 children benefited from the session.
