The Meghalaya Samagra Siksha Abhiyan School Association (MSSASA) has written to Education Minister Lahkmen Rymbui, urging him to fill the vacant posts in Government Lower Primary Schools and Upper Primary Schools following the age relaxation notification.

In the letter, MSSASA stated, "However, in order for this notification to have a meaningful impact and for the interest and welfare of the students at large, we humbly request your esteemed office to initiate the process of filling all existing vacant posts of Assistant Teachers in Government Lower Primary and Upper Primary Schools in the State."

The SSA teachers believe that this will ensure that aspirants eligible under the revised age criteria, including those from Scheduled Tribes and Scheduled Castes who now benefit from additional age relaxation, are given a fair opportunity to participate in the recruitment process.

Furthermore, the Association requested the Education Department to consider a one-time age relaxation for those SSA teachers who have already attained the age of 45 years as on December 11, 2024, but are now overage.

The Government of Meghalaya has extended the upper age limit for Samagra Shiksha Teachers applying for recruitment in government schools from 32 years to 40 years, with an additional five-year relaxation for Scheduled Tribes (ST)/ Scheduled Castes (SC) candidates.
