It’s getting cold out there. 🥶
Let’s keep our furry friends safe from hypothermia this winter.

Many owners don’t realize how quickly a pet’s body temperature can drop to dangerous levels, affecting their vital organs. This is especially true if they get wet or are left outside too long.

Swipe to learn the red flags. If you notice violent shivering (or worse, if they stop shivering but are still cold), lethargy, ice-cold ears/feet, or pale gums, take action immediately.

🛁 First Aid Must-Dos: Gently warm them using towels from the dryer and head to the clinic right away. Please avoid direct heating pads or hot baths, as rewarming too quickly can be dangerous.

Remember, if you need a winter coat, they probably need to come inside! Stay warm and stay safe. 💚

Save this post for emergencies. We are here to help.

If your dog is constantly shaking their head or digging at their ears, it’s likely not just “wax buildup.” It could be Ear Mites.

Many pet parents try home remedies like oil first. Please don’t! That’s like trying to put out a forest fire with a water pistol. You need professional medication to break the life cycle of the parasite and treat the secondary yeast or bacterial infection that usually comes with them.

If you see the dreaded “coffee grounds” inside those ears, let us handle the eviction process.

We know you love your pets, but sometimes love means saying “no” to those sad eyes before surgery! 🥺

We see these six common mistakes in the clinic all the time. While they often come from a good place, they can be dangerous for your pet and make it much harder for us to treat them effectively.

Please swipe through this guide on what not to do before your next vet visit.

Keep your fur babies safe! If you are ever unsure, just give us a ring.

Finding a strange lump or bump in your dog’s mouth can be terrifying. 😟

While any new growth warrants attention, many oral masses (like the one pictured here, which resembles a common viral papilloma or “wart”) are benign. However, you can’t tell just by looking.

We’ve put together a guide to help you understand what these common bumps might be and, crucially, when you need to schedule that vet visit.

In the veterinary world, “looking fine” can sometimes be a ticking time bomb. We call these the Silent Red Lights. These are the emergencies that don’t look like emergencies until it is too late.

Swipe to see 3 conditions where minutes matter, even if your pet is still wagging their tail. 👉

1️⃣ The “Blocked” Cat: If he is straining in the litter box but nothing is coming out, it is not constipation. It is a life-threatening blockage. 2️⃣ The “Bloated” Belly: If a deep-chested dog tries to vomit but can’t, and their stomach feels tight like a drum, rush them in. 3️⃣ The Toxin Absorption: Just because the poison (chocolate, grapes, rat poison) hasn’t hit their system yet doesn’t mean they are safe. We are racing against the clock.

If our team rushes your “normal-looking” pet to the back, please trust us. We are seeing signs that you might miss. 🩺

🚨 Limping Alert! What’s Your Dog Trying to Tell You? 🚨

A sudden hop, skip, or noticeable limp means your pup is hurting! As their human, knowing what to do immediately is key to a swift recovery.

DO THIS: 🛑 Stop all activity immediately! No more walks or running around.

DON’T DO THIS: 🙅‍♀️ Don’t try to give human pain medication (like Tylenol or Ibuprofen)—it can be toxic!

NEXT STEP: ➡️ Call the experts! We can quickly determine if it’s a simple fix or requires further attention. Early intervention is vital for conditions like ligament tears or fractures.

We’re here for emergency and same day appointments!

Watching your beloved pet recover from surgery can be stressful, but you are their best advocate! Proper at home care is crucial for a smooth and quick recovery.

The Cone of Shame Management: Learn practical tips to make the dreaded E-collar (or “cone”) less traumatic for your pet. We cover everything from eating and drinking hacks to ensuring they can sleep comfortably.

Incision Site TLC: Understanding what a healing incision looks like is key. We show you how to monitor for signs of infection (like excessive swelling or discharge), and the best way to keep the area clean and undisturbed.

🐶 Essential Reminders:

Keep it Dry: Incisions should not get wet (no baths!).

Limit Activity: Follow your vet’s strict instructions on restricting jumping and running.

Never Remove the Cone Unsupervised: Even five minutes without supervision can lead to chewing and a re-opened wound.

If you have any concerns about your pet’s recovery, always call your veterinarian immediately.
