On International Day of Persons with Disabilities, Navksh*tij reaffirms its commitment to building an inclusive and supportive world for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. For 22 years, we have been creating a safe, joyful, and dignified environment where every individual is encouraged to learn, work, and live with confidence. This day reminds us that disability is not a barrier to growth. With the right care, acceptance, and opportunity, every person can reach their potential. At Navksh*tij, we focus on abilities, not limitations. Through residential care, vocational training and community involvement, we work to empower our residents PwIDs to lead meaningful lives. Inclusion is not just a goal-it is our responsibility.

A big thank you to the 28 employees of Tata Motors, who visited Navksh*tij on November 29! Their generous support - salon chair and other essential items - will help enhance the care we offer to our special friends.

We also had the opportunity to spread awareness about adults with intellectual disabilities to the visitors.

On the occasion of Disability Week, Navksh*tij announces the Dr. Nilima Desai Karandak Drama Competition for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities, to be held at Bharat Natya Mandir, Pune, on 5th December 2025.

For the past 16 years, this event has been providing a special platform where over 200 participants showcase their talent every year. The competition helps build self-confidence, stage presence, social skills, and much more for our performers.

On November 26, a team of volunteers from Access Healthcare visited Navksh*tij as part of their employee engagement programme.

Access Healthcare has been our supporter for some time now. Every month, they bring new employees to our campus to build social awareness and understanding about intellectual disabilities.

This time, 20 employees comprised the group. We organised a one-hour interactive session for them.

Two initiatives announced at a press conference

At a press conference at the Patrakar Bhavan, Pune, on November 24, Navksh*tij announced two major events for the year: Natyamahotsav 2025 and the Navksh*tij Empowerment Excellence Award 2025.

The drama competition, slated for December 5, provides a platform for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities to showcase their acting talent. More than 200 participants are expected to celebrate their skills at the event.

The second initiative, that is, the Navksh*tij Empowerment Excellence Award 2025, aims to recognise and appreciate outstanding contributions in the disability sector, especially within the domain of intellectual and developmental disabilities.

During the press conference, Dr. C. R. Desai, the president of Navksh*tij, and Prof. Smita Shetty, the managing trustee, shared details about both the programmes. They also spoke about our upcoming project at Aswali — a vast, unique campus designed to serve and empower more adults with intellectual disabilities in the years ahead.

It was wonderful to host a group of well-wishers from Adient India team on November 22! Their support through grocery donations and their interest in understanding the lives and rights of adults with intellectual disabilities made this engagement truly impactful.

We are happy to have 15 more hearts from the corporate world become aware about our mission and our work.

On November 21, a team from Baker Hughes visited our Marunji unit. A group of 10 members spent time understanding our mission and vision.

The delegates asked insightful questions and appreciated the work that we are doing. They were impressed with the dedication of our staff.

On Children's Day (November 14), a team from Rudra Motors, Hinjewadi, visited Navksh*tij. They toured our Marunji campus and donated groceries and snacks for our special friends.
Eight members were added to our awareness count.

Navksh*tij appreciates the sincere efforts of interns Riya Mahotra and Samruddhi Pathak, students of Psychology at Deccan Education Society, Pune.

During their one-month internship, the two students actively engaged with our special friends and contributed to our Diwali preparations with great dedication. Thank you, Riya and Samruddhi!

Pooja Gaikwad: Workshop Assistant, Talegaon Unit

Mrs. Pooja Gaikwad has been a part of our Talegaon unit since it was launched two and a half years ago. She has been a workshop assistant here. Though she holds a general D.Ed., she has wholeheartedly adapted to working with adults with intellectual disabilities.

At the workshop, Pooja trains our special friends in making various products. She has built a strong bond with them. At Navksh*tij, learning begins with connection. Her patience, creativity and willingness to learn make her a true asset to the team.

On November.4, the leadership team from ZS Associates India Pvt. Ltd visited Navksh*tij to understand our mission and work. They interacted with our resident special friends at both Marunji and Talegaon campuses, where they were warmly received by Dr. C. R. Desai, our president, and Prof. Smita Shetty, our managing trustee.

The team appreciated our commitment and dedication to rehabilitation and empowerment of adults with intellectual disabilities.
