Prime Minister 's inauguration tomorrow of the new Nalanda University campus marks a revival of India's role as an education leader.

𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐆𝐥𝐨𝐫𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐀𝐧𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐍𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐚
For over eight centuries, from the 5th century CE onwards, Nalanda University reigned supreme. Renowned as the world's first and largest residential university, it attracted scholars from across Asia – China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, and beyond – all seeking its unparalleled wisdom. Imagine a bustling campus with 10,000 students engrossed in diverse subjects. Sanskrit, the language of scholarship, echoed through its halls.

Tragically, in the 12th century, Nalanda was barbarously attacked and destroyed. The library burned for months, a devastating loss of irreplaceable knowledge. This marked a turning point, but the embers of knowledge never truly extinguished. Today, the revival of Nalanda University signifies a powerful resurgence.

𝐒𝐚𝐧𝐬𝐤𝐫𝐢𝐭: 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐋𝐚𝐧𝐠𝐮𝐚𝐠𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐁𝐫𝐢𝐝𝐠𝐞𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞𝐬

S̲a̲n̲s̲k̲r̲i̲t̲,̲ the ancient language of Nalanda, played a crucial role in preserving and disseminating knowledge. Its intricate grammar and vast vocabulary facilitated the creation of a rich scholarly tradition. By reviving Sanskrit alongside Nalanda, India is not only reconnecting with its roots but also offering the world a powerful tool for cross-cultural understanding.

The new Nalanda University embodies a progressive vision. Spread over 455 acres, the state-of-the-art campus boasts two academic blocks with 40 classrooms, offering a total seating capacity of around 1,900. Two auditoriums, each with a capacity of 300, provide additional learning spaces. Student accommodation caters to approximately 550, fostering a vibrant residential community. Beyond academics, the campus features an International Centre, a 2,000-seater amphitheater, a faculty club, and a sports complex, creating a holistic learning environment.

The new Nalanda University isn't just about replicating the past; it's about building a sustainable future for education. The campus is a "net zero" green haven, self-sufficient with a solar plant, water treatment facilities, and water recycling systems.
