Sugar Gliders
Sugar gliders are small, nocturnal marsupials native to Australia, Indonesia, and Papua New Guinea. Named for their love of sweet foods and their ability to glide through the air, they have a thin membrane called the patagium stretching from their wrists to ankles, allowing them to glide between trees like tiny flying squirrels.
They are social animals, living in groups and communicating with a variety of sounds. Sugar gliders grow to about 24–30 cm including the tail and weigh around 100–160 grams. Their diet in captivity should include fruits, insects, and specially formulated glider food to maintain good health.
With proper care, they can be affectionate pets, but they require time, commitment, and a safe environment as they are active, curious, and highly social by nature.
