Innri friður means Inner Peace in Icelandic. We are a private practice in Reykjavik offering counselling and psychotherapy sessions to people in need of support.
A special area of interest for Lora Elin, the founder of Inner peace, is the unique struggles immigrants face.
Immigrants have many added stressors to those of locals. Needing to navigate a foreign host country they meet many barriers such as language difficulties, cultural differences, social rules they have not learnt, lack of a support network and many times added financial stress and insecure housing.
To add to this, immigrants, whether it be expats, nomads, refugees or love migrants have their normal share of trauma, illness and challenges as any other humans do.
As a clinical social worker Lora is in a unique position to assist immigrants in need. Having worked in many agencies she knows the system and as a psychotherapist has the skills and training in supporting people through emotional crisis and illness.
Her interest in assisting immigrants comes from her own background, her mother moved from the USA to be with her Icelandic father while her partner is German and works internationally. She has therefore lived for prolonged periods in the East, North and South of Europe as well as different parts of South, Middle and North America.
The languages Lora is comfortable working in are Icelandic, Spanish and English.
