Performance Meets Science: Data as a Competitive Edge

Working with elite swimmers like Paltrinieri and Acerenza, Federnuoto and Università di Bologna integrated wireless sEMG and IMUs to decode what happens beneath the surface. sEMG measures muscle activation (motor unit recruitment and firing frequency), while IMUs track linear acceleration and angular velocity.

By filtering raw signals to isolate physiological data, we extract:
✅ Activation patterns and contraction duration.
✅ Left/right asymmetries and signal amplitude.
✅ Fatigue indicators and neuromuscular synergies.
This integration connects muscle activity with movement dynamics to optimize technique and prevent injury through objective data.

The Cometa Pico proves that miniaturization isn’t just about convenience — it’s about better data.
Its ultra-small, lightweight design minimizes interference with natural movement, reducing motion artifacts and improving signal quality. That’s critical for biomechanics, rehabilitation, and high-performance sports, where precision matters.
And despite its size, there are no compromises: Pico delivers the same high-fidelity, low-latency EMG data as larger sensors — full signal integrity, zero trade-offs.
In motion science, smaller sensors don’t just make data collection easier.
They make it better.

In clinical and research settings, the value of an EMG analysis depends first and foremost on the quality of the recorded signal.
Regardless of the application, three conditions remain essential.
1️⃣ Correct electrode placement
Accurate positioning over the muscle belly, aligned with fiber orientation, is crucial. Small deviations can significantly affect signal amplitude and interpretation.
2️⃣ Noise reduction
Minimizing motion artifacts, electromagnetic interference, and cross-talk is key to obtaining clean, reproducible data. Proper skin preparation and stable electrode fixation make a measurable difference.
3️⃣ Appropriate muscle selection
Choosing the right muscles based on the movement task and research question ensures that the collected data is both relevant and meaningful.
Reliable EMG starts long before data analysis—it begins with methodological rigor.
👉 What best practices or precautions do you use in your EMG protocols?
Let’s exchange perspectives.

EMG is more than signal acquisition: it helps reveal how muscles generate force, adapt to load, and respond to fatigue. When properly analyzed, EMG data supports research, clinical practice, and performance analysis by transforming raw signals into meaningful insight.
Advanced EMG and motion analysis tools make it possible to interpret muscle activation patterns, monitor efficiency, and better understand movement—turning complexity into clarity.

Looking ahead to 2026, our vision is built on three key pillars: global expansion, advanced EMG innovation, and flexibility.
Emerging markets such as China, India, and the Middle East are becoming central to the future of biomechanics and movement analysis. This is why we are strengthening our presence in these regions and preparing to take part in Arab Health WHX on February 9 in Dubai.
At the same time, we are investing in the development of a new EMG technology, that will open new possibilities for research and clinical applications.
Finally, being a small and agile company allows us to do what truly makes a difference: develop custom solutions tailored to the specific needs of our partners and customers.
Innovation grows faster when technology adapts to people—not the other way around.
