If there is time for just one posture, Guruji recommends Setu Bandha Sarvangasana, or Bridge Pose. This pose stimulates the adrenal glands, opens the chest, and creates the chinlock of Jalandara Bandha, which stimulates the vagus nerve, calming the sympathetic nervous system. In Bridge Pose, the brain becomes quiet, but the chest is open, which is a powerful combination for people trapped in the movements of the mind.

"The practice does not differ, but the approach might differ. If the needs differ, the purposes differ. Positioning the body accurately with the disposition of mind is to see that there is no difference between the outer body and the inner body. Basically there is no difference between the inner and outer body. But we create the difference. Men want to do yoga as an exercise and women want to keep the nerves calm. If women want to do jumping during menstruation, will it make the mind quiet? When one is suffering from abnormalities, one has to stay in the asana, and not do them as an exercise. The circulation has to supply, and the body has to be supplied with energy. Hence, staying with delicate adjustment is needed. These delicate adjustments are the qualities of yoga, as yoga means to bring the state of equanimity in body, mind and soul."

"Many people see the photographs of asana and think that the supple body alone can perform such asana but one should know that often the supple body too cannot give any feedback to the brain or mind as the body lacks sensitivity. Though supple bodies do not experience pain, these tax the nerves causing fatigue, restlessness and headache or heaviness. A supple body does not trigger the intelligence to think what is wrong and what is right in performing an asana. On the contrary, a rigid body has resistance, action and counter-action, which triggers the intelligence to study the asana in the right perspective. So even if the body is supple, the mind should resist and make itself hard for the body to perform the asana with difficulty."
