Buon Natale & Merry Christmas🌲

The end of the year is approaching, and I want to wish you all a merry and joyful period of festive days of refreshment and rest. What does yoga give us? Clarity, ability to stay, strength, flexibility, possibility to let go and discipline, only to name a few.
If there is a challenge in yoga it is only towards oneself and one’s own limits. There is no goal to be reached, nor a point of the body to be touched, but a journey towards the overcoming of pre-packaged mental schemes that block human beings in a dimension that is not natural. Yoga is instead a natural, healthy, beautiful, joyful practice. For these feasts and for the new year, I wish you to live consciously the present moment with your beloved ones, to observe reality with greater clarity, and to enhance the capacity of breathing and to make use of the power of intuition. And above all I wish you to encourage your concentration by opening the magical doors of perception.

Teaching yoga is far more than demonstrating postures or reciting alignment cues. It is an art that blends technical understanding with the intelligence of the heart.

Technique may come from the intellect, but its expression must come from sensitivity, awareness, and compassion. Other arts use objective techniques, but yoga is a subjective art — a dialogue happening within the student:

• from body to mind
• from mind back to body
• and ultimately, from heart to heart

A yoga teacher must first speak inwardly, to their own heart, before speaking outwardly through instruction. Teaching begins in observation — noticing how a student moves, responds, hesitates, or opens — and then choosing words that help them experience the pose from within.

Yoga educates; it does not train. It cultures the body, clarifies the mind, and awakens the self. Every expression of yoga happens in this triangle of body, mind, and self — in space, with space, and as space.

Even the instant reaction to a needle pricking the foot shows us that the mind is everywhere, not just in the head. This is why teaching requires sensitivity far beyond intellectual technique.

A true teacher learns by teaching.
A true student learns by obeying and observing.
In this dynamic exchange, both evolve.

✨ If this resonates, share it with a teacher who changed your life.

Today marks the anniversary of our beloved Geetaji. ❤️ I often wonder about Geetaji’s journey. It wasn’t just about mastering yoga—it was about breaking through the barriers of a male-dominated field while staying true to herself. She had to strike a delicate balance: not too assertive, or she’d risk being seen as aggressive, but not too soft, or people might underestimate her or take advantage. Walking that fine line must have taken incredible care.

As the daughter of B.K.S. Iyengar, the expectations on her were even higher. She had to work twice as hard—not only to prove her skills but to earn respect in a space where her very presence challenged the status quo.

Because of women like Geetaji, who carried themselves with such strength and grace, the world of yoga became a little more open. They made the path easier and the opportunities greater for those who followed

Chanting Boosts Immunity

It’s all about the hypothalamus. The control tower of the brain, it regulates communication between the nervous system and the endocrine system, taking in information from the entire body, before transmitting outward again, via chemical messengers. These couriers, such as serotonin and dopamine, are known as the 'happiness hormones' due to the impact they have on our moods. The hypothalamus is Office in Charge of many bodily functions we tend to think of as automatic, like temperature, metabolism and nervous system, as well as pituitary secretion, affecting everything from mood to appetite to sleep. It is perhaps the single most important link in the mind-body connection.

What common western manuals won’t tell you, is that it is the breath that turns the key to this super-circuit, this central hub, this brain of brains.

Breath helps to adjust all the rhythms of our body - not only the familiar circadian rhythms, but the lesser known ultradian rhythms, which monitor the smaller-scale energy cycles that occur throughout the day. Because our nervous systems are often overtaxed, these rhythms are thrown out of balance. But through the technology of sound, we begin repairs. And when breath is set to sound–Wowee Zonkers! The positive effects on the parasympathetic nervous system - that part of the nervous system that tells us everything is alright - are multiplied and the healing response is triggered and it all translates into healing and stronger immunity.

The transformative practice of yoga invites balance and clarity into your life. This enhances flexibility of thinking, while releasing blockages held in the body. Stretching your muscles. While focusing on the breath, shifts trapped feelings and frees the flow of life-force, otherwise known as pranayama.
