Last week we ran a VAVE (Value Analysis / Value Engineering) Kaizen event at our facility, focused on strengthening competitiveness by improving customer value and reducing unnecessary cost.

Starting from a solid data baseline (fully costed BOM, COGs, Voice of the Customer), we focused on the main cost drivers and challenged current design and process choices.

Thanks to strong cross-functional collaboration (R&D, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, Manufacturing), we generated and evaluated concrete improvement opportunities.

💡 Key outcomes:

• Cost-saving opportunities identified
• Better alignment between design and supply chain
• Reduction of non-value-added complexity

Another successful Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) completed!

This advanced system is designed to safely process irradiated ampoules coming from a nuclear reactor. Through a fully automated workflow, including ampoule crushing, dissolution of target material, and chemical purification, the system recovers and processes enriched radioactive material with minimal operator intervention. A powerful example of how automation can enhance safety, reproducibility, and efficiency in radiopharmaceutical production.

Ultimately, this system will be implemented in the Centralized Radiochemical Facility (CRF) at SCK CEN, Belgium. This brand-new facility from SCK CEN will play a vital role in the fight against cancer.
