Yesterday we were invited to attend the 20th anniversary of the Chiesi Foundation, which was both a pleasure and an honor.

It was an honor to take part in such an exciting event, where we could feel the passion and motivation that drove first the Chiesi family, and then all those who supported them, to undertake a mission that goes beyond business and commerce.

As a family business equally committed to projects supporting healthcare systems in the global south and to research, we felt very involved in the spirit and values that were shared, as well as in the mission.

We would like to thank the Chiesi Foundation, now Paolo Chiesi Foundation, and in particular Massimo Salvadori for the opportunity, and we wish you all the best for the future of your projects.

Ieri Misitano,Responsabile progetti della Osafund - Fondazione Agostiniani nel Mondo ha organizzato con Focsiv e diretto personalmente una lezione del Master Spices di Focsiv dal titolo: "Innovazione sociale – Imprese e ONG per una nuova cooperazione" presso il nostro stand a CodewayExpo.

Erano presenti 15 studenti e studentesse, alcuni di loro in collegamento da remoto, che hanno seguito con interesse e partecipazione la lezione,ricca di spunti e nuove prospettive sulla collaborazione tra profit e no profit.

Dagli interventi dei ragazzi è emerso che c'è ancora scetticismo in questa collaborazione e che il mondo profit viene visto come il "male" nel settore della cooperazione internazionale.

Come azienda Medivac Srl Società Benefit abbiamo cercato di mostrare,con esempi concreti e con la nostra esperienza, che ci sono realtà profit diverse seppure piccole. Realtà che collaborano con il no profit ma anche con il settore pubblico. Realtà che, come noi, con il proprio know how e con la propria tecnologia contribuiscono insieme alle organizzazioni no profit all'innovazione sociale.

Today we would like to share with you a recent pubblication on Chemosphere where researchers assessed the inhaled dose of nanomaterials by nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) of (EBC) and its relationship with lung .

"A clear-cut relationship between the number of airborne particles in the nano-size range determined by the particle counters and the particle concentration in (EBC) was apparent. Moreover, (IL-1β, IL-10, and TNF-α) measured in EBC, were significantly higher in the exposed subjects as compared to not exposed. Finally, significant correlations were found between external exposure, the number concentration of particles measured by the nanoparticle tracking analysis (NTA) and inflammatory cytokines. As a whole, the present study, suggests that NTA can be regarded as a reliable tool to assess the inhaled dose of particles and that this dose can effectively elicit inflammatory effects."

Pubblichiamo un articolo comparso a gennaio scorso sul giornale L'Unione Sarda in cui si porta a conoscenza dei lettori il progetto ARRDIA, attualmente in corso, finanziato dalla Regione Sardegna e nato dall'Unità operativa toracica dell'ospedale oncologico di Cagliari.

La ricerca mira ad identificare dei marcatori all'interno dell'esalato condensato umano che possano rivelare precocemente la presenza di un tumore polmonare.

Nell'ambito della ricerca, il System di Medivac Srl Società Benefit viene utilizzato per il campionamento dell'esalato condensato da soggetti ex esposti amianto, pazienti oncologici e soggetti sani.

Ecco la fantastica novità che ha preso vita nel cuore di Medivac Srl Società Benefit: è finalmente una realtà concreta. Questa innovativa stazione mobile (brevetto in attesa) è progettata per essere installata e trasportata su qualsiasi mezzo, ma può anche essere rimossa per fungere da struttura fissa a terra. Il frutto della collaborazione tra Medivac e tec, un'azienda specializzata nella progettazione e produzione di contenitori isotermici refrigerati.

Si immagini questa stazione come una piccola unità completamente autosufficiente dal punto di vista energetico, dedicata alla produzione e distribuzione di di sodio elettrolitico. Al suo interno, è collocato un insieme a tutti gli accessori necessari per produrre in loco. Ma non è tutto: pannelli solari, una batteria tampone e un generatore di corrente completano il quadro.

La NaCLO Station è stata progettata appositamente per rispondere alle particolari esigenze in situazioni di emergenza o in località più remote. Un alleato perfetto là dove è difficile disporre di spazi dedicati per la produzione, ma anche per rendere più veloce, flessibile ed efficace una produzione itinerante.

Researchers established an international cohort within the EU-LIFE project "NanoExplore" to address possible health effects from occupational exposures to nanomaterials.

They assessed oxidative/nitrosative stress with a panel of biomarkers in exhaled breath condensate (EBC) and urine.

This study suggests that occupational exposures to nanoparticles can affect the oxidative balance and the innate immunity in occupationally exposed workers.

However, owing to the intrinsic variability of biomarkers, the observed changes along with their health significance should be assessed in a long-term perspective study.

Today we would like to share with you an interesting paper published in July 2023 on the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.

The study was conducted using our condenser. The authors have hypothesized that Exhaled Breath Condensate could also be a carrier of viable cells from the airway mucosa, and, if present, they could be used to investigate pulmonary pathologies as done for the BAL cells.

At the end, they have reported for the first time that EBC carries viable respiratory cells and that their composition varies with the presence of a pathological state. The results are promising but more investigations are necessary.
