Studio nazionale “Model for Optimized Implementation of Early Lung Cancer Detection: Prospective Evaluation Of Preventive Lung HEalth (PEOPLHE)” promosso dall’Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria di Parma. PEOPLHE

The Project was showcased at the Parliament in discussions hosted by MEP Papandreou on the future of lung cancer screening across Europe.

Key discussions included how countries are implementing targeted screening pilots, using mobile units to reach remote areas, and the development of new EU guidelines that will help more countries roll out life-saving screening programmes.

🚀As a SOLACE partner, we are proud to be part of this important work to make early detection accessible to everyone who needs it across Europe.

💡 Did you know, more people in Europe die from lung cancer than from any other cancer? But when found early through lung cancer screening, survival rates are vastly improved.

This Lung Cancer Awareness Month, the Project is raising awareness about early detection. The screening process is quick and painless. Learn more: https://hub.solacelung.eu/patients/what-is-screening/

8 November

Today is the International Day of Radiology. As part of the EU-funded Project, which focuses on strengthening lung cancer screening across Europe, we’re highlighting the importance of radiology in low-dose CT screening for lung cancer. 🫁

Dr. Palm, a radiologist involved in , shared the challenges radiologists face such as high workloads, long hours and the increasing complexity of image analysis. She also discussed how SOLACE is supporting radiologists in testing artificial intelligence tools, which are designed to help ease these burdens. Watch her interview: https://h7.cl/1i6Dv

November is Lung Cancer Awareness Month 🫁

To***co use remains one of the leading causes of preventable lung cancer. Quitting smoking isn't easy, but it leads to lasting benefits: better health, more energy, and a longer life.

The Project has created multilingual graphics to help raise awareness about why stopping smoking matters. Learn more about lung cancer prevention: https://europeanlung.org/solace/project-resources/

On , Ilona's story is a powerful reminder: while fear of screening is natural, earlier detection of cancer can save lives and mean a quicker return to normality.

As a partner in the Project , we advocate for lung cancer screening programmes that save lives and support mental wellbeing throughout the cancer care journey.

📅 🌐 International Day of Radiology!

“Today is the International Day of Radiology! It is a great day to raise awareness of the importance of low-dose CT lung cancer screening for Europe’s population at risk. It also allows us to celebrate the key role radiologists play in this multidisciplinary
team effort. It is great to see how the SOLACE project succeeds in setting up implementation pilots, developing science-based guidance for health professionals and decision-makers and in informing Europe’s citizens.”

Monika Hierath, EIBIR Executive Manager, ESR Director of European and International Affairs

SOLACE aims to promote the importance of these life-saving scans and encourage high-risk and hard-to-reach individuals, such as females and people living with comorbidities, to consider screening.
