Measurements and Biomedical Instrumentation Lab Measurements and Biomedical Instrumentation Laboratory - Laboratorio di Misure e Strumentazione Biom

Metrology is the science of measurement and its applications. It focuses on theoretical aspects of metrology, on the estimation of uncertainty in measurements, on the design and manufacturing of measuring systems, and on the assessment of performances of measuring systems. Mechanical and thermal measurements are pivotal for the Safety of several Medical Devices, and contributes on the development of solutions aiming at improving medical equipment. The Measurements and Biomedical Instrumentation Lab takes advantages from the close research cooperation between the School of Medicine & Surgery and the School of Engineering, which enables a continuous flow of information aiming at development and testing of innovative tools and devices both for research purposes and for clinical practice. The Center for Integrated Research (CIR) is the research facility of the "Università Campus Bio-Medico di Roma" that groups more than 20 biomedicine and bioengineering research laboratories.

Last week, our colleague Romano attended the 2022 IEEE International Workshop on Sport Technology and Research remotely presenting the work entitled "Continuous Estimation with a Temperature Sensor During Exercise: A Feasibility Study" carried out in collaboration with the Department of Movement, Human and Health Sciences of degli studi di Roma "Foro Italico" and co-authored by Carlo Massaroni, Nicolò, Innocenti, Sacchetti, and Emiliano Schena. It was a great opportunity to share the results of our research and an opportunity to gather valuable insights for future investigations. Congratulation Chiara! Well done!

Another amazing experience for MTMBiLAB has just ended. Our colleagues participated at the 17th IEEE International Symposium on Medical Measurements and Applications held in Giardini Naxos over the past few days. Schena, Carlo Massaroni, and Lo Presti served as chairs of two sessions " Systems for and Physical Parameters" and "Smart Based on Optic Technology for and Applications". During the conference, they had the chance to present our works entitled "Analysis of Spatio-Temporal Dynamics of Thermal Lesion Formation in Radiofrequency " and "A soft sensor based on technology for monitoring in archery". It was a wonderful experience to share our research activities.

We are thrilled to announce that our Prof. Emiliano Schena will be the general co-chair alongside Prof. Kim from Sungkyunkwan University in the next edition of MeMea 2023, which will be hosted in Jeju Island, Korea. Thank you to all the steering committee for this precious opportunity.
