Africa brought me back to the essence of yoga.
As Samkhya philosophy teaches us:
"Purusha" is pure consciousness - the silent witness.
"Prakriti" is nature - the body, the breath, the earth beneath our feet.
"Ahamkara" the ego "I AM" - is what convinces us we must perform, compare, or be “better.”
Here, in Africa, Ahamkara softens.
Purusha is felt.
Prakriti is honoured through the sand, the ocean, the sun, the people..
On these shores of Mombasa with these souls, men and women, young and old, I was reminded of what yoga truly is.
Barefoot on the sand. Present in the body. Free from performance.
In yoga, there is no perfection to reach.
No status. No ticket. No image to maintain.
Only being.
This land gently stripped away the noise and brought me back to truth:
Yoga is not something we do to be seen.
Yoga is something we live to remember who we are.
This is how it was always meant to be.
And for that, I am deeply grateful for the universe to have brought me to this pure consciousness 🤍🌊🧘🏾♀️🥹🙏🏾✨️
