what is that drives you in your work?
Ambition? Desire to help? Desire of knowledge? Habit? Anxiety to be good? Desire to be good? Respect for the work and for people? Love?

Maybe a combination of all of these and much more? Many different things in different moments of life and different stages of growth, awareness, maturity, tiredness, freshness?
We are very complex beings, made of so many different aspects and the Work, if done properly, doesn’t take us to the best version of ourselves, but to the truest, the fullest, the most complete… always take your time to observe yourself in your path, with no judgment, but with love, compassion and honesty and use the work itself to choose the direction you wanna take, giving yourself the time and possibility to change, grow and adapt to new alignments… THAT’T WHAT THE WORK IS ABOUT

Pilates is about learning how to balance the PUSH AND PULL… it’s about learning how to use the pressure to create intraddominal compression and decompression of the spine … that’s why we have the SPRINGS… this has a deep beneficial effect on our organs, nervous system, breath, functioning , presence , happiness , health.
Push through and reverse push through are wonderful exercises to feel how to flex our back properly and fully, using the bar to guide the lengthen of the whole spine and using the action of pushing to create the vacuum in the stomach and the mobility of spine and shoulders.
Push with trust and listening to your body to find the balance, the organization and the relationship among the parts of the body, not the blocks !

Whenever we do exercise “for the legs” we are actually working the entire body (as for any other exercise of the system)—- the springs are helping us to mobilize the hips , massage the internal organs, decompress the spine, lengthen the back, strengthen the legs, connect and harmonize the joints, create elasticity in the ileopsoas, mobilize the spine , strengthen the coordination between upper and lower body , reeducate movement patterns that will help us to walk better, more efficiently and in economy of energy and … as usual, to fell happier and in contact with our own bodies… legs exercises are not for the legs… they are for the BODY💜

“From head to toe”… we literally can work our entire line of the body through the work… all the headstand exercises in Pilates are for me an example of what real safety means— it means to build up the exercises properly through movement, not through fear; it means to distribute the weight and the pressure through the whole body, rather than over focus on bearing all the weight and stability on one joint ; it means to use the springs to create space , ride them rather than resiste to them ; allow all the articulations (including the neck) to move in all the directions that are possible according to the nature ; be patient and consistent in the work at the same time ; not force but keep going … trust the work, the process, yourself 💜

Our Story

Gloria, laureata in scienze motorie, segue il metodo Pilates dal 1999. Ha seguito corsi prima in Olanda e poi negli Stati Uniti. Ha conseguito la Comprehensive Certification con Clare Dunphy presso il Pilates Progressive Bodyworks di Boston. Dal 2012 collabora col Vintage Pilates di Los Angeles, di proprietà di Sandy Shimoda e diretto da Jay Grimes, allievo diretto di Joseph e Clara Pilates, e qui ha conseguito il Master “The Work” nel 2013. Nel 2015 è stata selezionata da Jay Grimes per il “Teaching the Work”, un Master Program di un anno, per insegnanti. Gloria viene spesso invitata presso altri Studi Pilates in Italia e all’estero, come theacher in occasione di workshop o convention.
