MAHA SHIVARATRI 2019
Shiva significa “Che è di buon augurio”, ratri (notte) indica l’oscurità. Shivaratri descrive un buon augurio a riguardo dell’oscurità, si riferisce alla saggezza che esiste in seno all’ignoranza. L’ignoranza e la saggezza non sono due cose diverse, sono le polarità opposte dello stesso principio; lo stato che trascende ambedue è chiamato Paratatva (Realtà Suprema) e non contempla nascita o morte. Shivaratri vi ricorda quindi il fatto che la stessa Divinità che è in voi è dovunque. Alcuni credono che Shiva viva sul monte Kailash; dov’è il Kailash? É nella vostra gioia e beatitudine. Se voi coltivate la gioia pura e il diletto nella mente, il cuore diventa il Kailash, la residenza del Signore Shiva. Come potete sperimentare la beatitudine pura? La beatitudine si prova se si coltiva la purezza, la fermezza e la santità. Allora il cuore diventa il Kailash colmo di pace e beatitudine e il Signore Shiva prende residenza nel santa sanctorum del cuore nel tempio del corpo.

'Shiva' means auspiciousness. ‘Night’ (ratri) signifies darkness. Shivaratri describes an auspiciousness, which is inherent in darkness. It refers to wisdom that exists in the midst of ignorance. Ignorance and wisdom are not two different things; they are the opposite polarities of the same underlying principle. The stage that transcends both wisdom and ignorance is called Paratatwa, where birth and death do not occur! Thus, Shivaratri reminds you of the fact that the same Divinity within you is present everywhere. Some people believe Shiva lives in Kailasa. Where is Kailasa? Kailasa is your own joy and bliss. If you cultivate pure joy and delight in your mind, your heart will become Kailasa, the abode of Lord Shiva! How can you experience pure bliss? Bliss results when you cultivate purity, steadiness and holiness. Then your heart itself will become Kailasa, filled with peace and bliss. Lord Shiva will then reside in the sanctum sanctorum of your heart, within the temple of your body.
