Your Italian roots - Genealogist

Your Italian roots - Genealogist My name is Letizia Lipari and I am Italian genealogist specialized in tracing the family history of those who, all around the world, have Italian roots

THE SERVICES I OFFER:

GENEALOGY REASERCH

Maybe you want to reconstruct your family tree, or perhaps you want to know everything about that ancestor of yours who first left Italy to look for a new life. Whatever it is, through genealogy research, onsite and online, I can help you piece together the puzzle of your family history. I perform different types of genealogical research in a professional way. Each research is accompanied by official documents (birth, death, marriage records, military service lists, immigration registers, etc.) which certify its reliability. To begin I will ask you to share with me what you know about your family history, and what you want to know more about: it is the first step to unearth your Italian roots. ANCESTRY TOURS

Imagine walking, literally, in the footsteps of your ancestors. I am a licensed tour guide and, with our ancestry tours, I can take you to discover the town and where your ancestors originated from. I will tell you about the traditions of the place and I will show you the artistic and natural beauties of the area, but also the places directly connected to the life of your ancestors: the church where they got married, the place where their home was, the cemeteries where they were buried. TRANSCRIPTIONS AND TRANSLATIONS

Almost every family has one. it is that old box full of letters inherited from grandparents or great-grandparents, often completely indecipherable. Yes, because handwritten Italian can be really difficult to decipher. And if it is not a letter, but an ancient document written by hand, perhaps in Latin ... well, you may need the help of an expert! As a genealogist I also deal with transcribing ancient letters and documents, in Italian or Latin. I can also translate the text into English or French.

OLD WORDS ON THE BACK OF A PHOTOGRAPH - FROM ITALY TO THE US AND BACK

This photograph depicts my great-great-grandfather Pietro Zinnanti, who sent it, along with some very sweet words, to his brother Rosario, who had emigrated to the United States. Almost a century after it was sent, through genealogical research, I managed to track down Rosario's grandchildren, who had kept this photo, and they sent me a copy. It was very moving to see the words penned by his great-great-grandfather, which revealed his most intimate and tender side.

Far from Sicily, you can still find Sicilian customs and traditions. Exported by emigrants, they connect Sicily with the rest of the world by invisible threads.

A VERY CREATIVE RECORD COMPILER

While searching through the parish registers of the Church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar in Argentina, digitized by FamilySearch, I discovered these beautiful drawings, which depict the subject matter of the register: baptisms, marriages, and deaths. The registers also contain magnificent doodles. It's not the first time I've come across sketches related to the register's content, but I've never seen such beautiful ones.
In the town of Pilar, in the province of Santa Fe, during the years these documents date back to, many Italians lived, mostly from Piedmont. Many of their stories are found within the pages of the registers.

FROM SICILY TO SYDNEY VIA CEYLON

In my house, there's always been a box full of coins from all over the world, souvenirs of distant travels by relatives and friends. But how did 10 cents from Ceylon, the old name for Sri Lanka, end up there?
The coin certainly dates back to my maternal grandfather's trip to Australia in the 1950s. At the time, ships bound for Australia departed from England and, after picking up a large number of people in Italy, passed through the Red Sea to the Indian Ocean and then stopped in Ceylon before setting sail for Australia.
My grandfather lived in Australia for a few years and then returned to Sicily. Many of his relatives, however, remained there. Today, more than 200,000 Sicilian descendants live in Australia.
