On Wednesday 29 April (7 pm), Cinema Rossini presents "one of the hidden masterpieces of 1950s Italian cinema and the most personal of the films Luigi Comencini made during that decade": THE WINDOW TO LUNA PARK, the intimate and moving story of a father trying to rebuild his relationship with his son, set against the backdrop of the Roman suburbs in the post-war period.

"The film is structured as a low key, everyday 'horizontal' male weepie. [...] The end result is a coming-of-age story focusing not on a child, but on an adult who learns to let go of his identity as a working class male with bourgeois aspirations when confronted by a son drawn to a member of an underclass that lacks his work ethic and to a 'feminine' model of paternity. Mercoledì 29 aprile, alle ore 19, il Cinema Rossini presenta "uno dei capolavori segreti del cinema italiano degli anni Cinquanta e il film più personale di Luigi Comencini nel decennio": LA FINESTRA SUL LUNA PARK, la storia intima e toccante di un padre che cerca di ricostruire il rapporto con il figlio sullo sfondo delle periferie romane del Secondo dopoguerra.

"Il film è costruito come un 'male weepie orizzontale', per scene minime e quotidiane. Just announced! The International Jury that will award the official prizes of the is composed of: Solange Oliveira Farkas (President), founder and artistic director of Associação Cultural Videobrasil; Zoe Butt, curator, writer and educator, founder of "in-tangible institute" and artistic director of "deCentral"; Elvira Dyangani Ose, curator and artistic director of the Public Art Abu Dhabi Biennial; Marta Kuzma, curator, contemporary art theorist and Professor at the Yale School of Art; Giovanna Zapperi, art historian, critic and Professor at the University of Geneva.

The Awards Ceremony will be held in Venice on Saturday 9 May 2026, during the opening of the 61st International Art Exhibition .

The seventh edition of the Permanent Festival of Restored Films is coming to a close!
An alien invasion threatening humanity, science pushed beyond its limits, and a clash between being human or becoming a monster: these are the elements of Val Guest's THE QUATERMASS XPERIMENT, Hammer Films' first monster film, screening on Wednesday 22 April (7 pm) at Cinema Rossini.

"Two utterly conventional lovers run across a meadow mouthing their lines with precisely the kind of simpering coyness that had dogged British films through the 1940s and 1950s… […] As they cringe in terror, a huge tubular rocket ship […] plunges through the sky into the field exactly at the point where they have been lying. It would be difficult to conceive of a more symbolic or appropriate beginning for Hammer's eruption onto the British film scene in the 1950s." (David Pirie)

Un'invasione aliena che minaccia l'umanità, il progresso incontrollato della scienza e la sua tracotanza, lo scontro tra essere uomo o diventare mostro: sono questi gli ingredienti de L'ASTRONAVE ATOMICA DEL DOTTOR QUATERMASS di Val Guest, il primo film di mostri della Hammer Films, in programma mercoledì 22 aprile (ore 19) al Cinema Rossini.

"Due innamorati del tutto convenzionali arrivano su un prato declamando le loro battute con l'esatta, affettata riservatezza che aveva perseguitato i film inglesi degli anni Quaranta e Cinquanta. […] Mentre i due si fanno piccoli per il terrore, un grande razzo tubolare [...] attraversa il cielo precipitando nel campo, esattamente nel punto dove giaceva la coppia. In May and June, the cycle of the Special Projects continues with a programme of events that restores centrality to the spoken word as a space for dialogue and critical imagination!
From 6 to 8 May, the Sala delle Colonne at Ca' Giustinian will host three evenings of the dedicated to DISSENT AND PEACE on the occasion of the Pre-opening of the – a moment of reflection on the theme of peace, bringing together some of the most influential voices in the contemporary cultural landscape.

Next, on 1 and 2 June, the new premises of the Historical Archive – International Centre for Research on Contemporary Arts will be inaugurated at the Arsenale, featuring lectures and performances curated by our Artistic Directors (by invitation only). An Open Day on 3 June will then offer the public the opportunity to visit the restored spaces (reservation required).

Finally, on 5 June at Ca' Giustinian, the Biennale della Parola returns with the presentation of Giovanni Grasso's book "Finché durerà la terra", in conversation with Roberto Papetti, director of the daily Il Gazzettino.

Wyldie Bracewell, Talullah Calderwood, Lara Dâmaso, Andrea La Pietra, and alys(alys)alys​ are the winners of the 2026 call for composers, sound artists and performers aged 18-30!

Supported by Artistic Director Caterina Barbieri and an international team of mentors, the young musicians will join a residency and production programme in Venice, ending with the presentation of their projects at the 70th International Festival of Contemporary Music (Venice, 10 > 24 October 2026).

How does engagement with theatre and the world alter our perspective? To answer this question, at the , the masterclass conducted by Roberta Ferraresi with Massimo Milella will bring together an editorial team of young theatre critics that will observe, discuss and narrate the themes and events of the 54th International Theatre Festival (Venice, 7 > 21 June 2026).

If you are aged 18-30 and would like to explore how criticism can be used to describe the world we live in, both on and off stage, submit your application by Sunday 10 May!

Un pomeriggio all'insegna della Danza: domenica 17 maggio, dalle ore 15, il Pattinodromo Arcobaleno del Parco Albanese (Mestre-Bissuola) si trasforma nel cuore di una grande festa, dove vivere il corpo in libertà.
Nell'ambito del programma "Parco aperto 2026" torna il nostro Happening con le Scuole di Danza del territorio: fino al 27 aprile le realtà interessate possono candidarsi per prendere parte a questo momento di confronto e scambio tra giovani danzatrici e danzatori.

E non finisce qui: due laboratori creativi permetteranno a bambine, bambini, famiglie e adulti di mettersi in gioco, tra movimento e immaginazione, per muoversi e creare insieme!

"We worked in the courtyard of RAW Material Company, under the sheltering shade of the straw roof. A prolific mango tree, its branches cambered from the weight of ripening fruit, watched. [...] On the last day of our convention, after reckoning that we had accomplished the most daunting milestone, Koyo assigned missions to each of us. [...] We could hear the music she so gracefully composed with us, under the generous guardianship of the mango tree", Koyo Kouoh's Team recalls, introducing the 61st International Art Exhibition, whose visual identity is infused with the breath of "komorebi" – the light that filters through leaves, evoking the quiet relief of sitting beneath a tree.

Designed by Clarissa Herbst in collaboration with Alex Sonderegger, the visual identity of translates this atmosphere into shades of grey with subtle tonal gradients between evanescence and permanence, forming a visual grammar that evokes both natural and cosmic modes of perception.
