On Wednesday 25 February (7 pm), returns to the Cinema Rossini with THE ASSASSINATION OF MATTEOTTI. "As dense, tense, compelling and persuasive as an advanced university lecture", Florestano Vancini's ninth feature film – starring the remarkable Franco Nero as Giacomo Matteotti – recreates "one of the many, tragic crimes attributed to the Fascist regime".

"Vancini develops an accurate and complex historical reconstruction from a multitude of perspectives, highlighting on the one hand Mussolini's hesitation in wishing to break with Fascist squad violence and seeking an alliance with industrial leaders and the Vatican, and on the other the courage and the errors of his opponents, who are deluded into thinking they can stop the dictator by leaving parliament. They almost all pay with their lives." (Paolo Mereghetti)

Mercoledì 25 febbraio, alle ore 19, torna al Cinema Rossini con IL DELITTO MATTEOTTI. "Denso, teso, avvincente e persuasivo come una lezione universitaria di alto livello", il nono lungometraggio di Florestano Vancini – con uno straordinario Franco Nero nei panni di Giacomo Matteotti – ripercorre "uno dei tanti, tragici misfatti imputabili al regime fascista".

"Vancini svolge una corretta e complessa ricostruzione storica a più voci, mostrando da una parte i tentennamenti di Mussolini – che vuole rompere i ponti con lo squadrismo e cercare l'alleanza con gli industriali e il Vaticano – e dall'altra la generosità e gli errori degli oppositori, che si illudono di fermare il dittatore uscendo dal parlamento e pagano quasi tutti con la vita." Meet the Lions of the !
The Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement of the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance (Venice, 17 July > 1 August 2026) goes to Bangarra Dance Theatre, Australia's leading First Nations performing arts company with a mission "to promote awareness and understanding of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures". As Artistic Director Wayne McGregor writes in his motivation: "Each one of the dancers, proud of their background, draws from a cultural legacy that has spanned 65,000 years across generations, creating powerful works that bring together dance, music and poetry. Since its inception in 1989, Bangarra has made a significant impact on the Australian and global theatre scene, touring productions telling the stories of First Nations peoples".

The winner of the Silver Lion is the South African dancer, choreographer, director and activist Mamela Nyamza, whose bodily thought "delves its roots in the collective memory and is moved by the currents of history, gender, society and politics".

Words are not enough to fully honour the legendary Frederick Wiseman (1930-2026), an undisputed master of documentary cinema and an unforgettable voice of independent film, who left an indelible mark on the history of the , presenting twelve movies over more than half a century, from the 1960s to 2023: we remember him with this shot from the , when he received the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement.

During the last days of the , Ca' Giustinian became an enchanted world, where reality and fantasy knew no bounds!

From a mysterious suitcase, sounds, melodies, and dance steps from every corner of the globe burst into life, while a little caterpillar turned into a butterfly right before our eyes! And like something straight out of a fairy tale, a gigantic rhinoceros appeared amid the "calli" and canals of , before we set sail for the "islands of emotions", breathing in time with yoga and music, our imagination catching the wind.

The exhibition "Man Ray, l'immagine ritrovata" has opened at the Portego in Ca' Giustinian: fifty years after the historic exhibition presented on the Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore in Venice for the , Venice once again embraces Man Ray's visionary gaze.

Spread across three rooms, the exhibition reunites the black-and-white photographs that formed the original beating heart of that historic display: the result is a compelling immersion in the radical, experimental intensity of a body of work poised between Dadaism and Surrealism, a research path that irrevocably transformed the language of photography.

Enhanced by materials and documents from the , the exhibition creates a vibrant dialogue between past and present: in keeping with the mission of the International Research Centre for Contemporary Arts as a dynamic and open institution, it offers a powerful opportunity to rediscover a Maestro whose work continues to resonate today with extraordinary force and striking relevance.

If music is your passion and you are a composer, sound artist or performer aged 18-30, you have time until Thursday 19 February to apply for the new call of the , the programme of residency, research, creation and production that will take you to the .

The young participants in the call are invited to explore "music as an open and intuitive process, rather than as a closed and static form", delving into "liminal territories between electronic music, new audiovisual technologies, acoustic instrumentation, and performance". 5 musical projects will be selected and defined over three sessions in Venice with the support of Artistic Director Caterina Barbieri and mentors including Thierry Coduys, Lyra Pramuk, Miller Puckette, Simone Trabucchi, and Marcel Weber, and will be presented at the 70th International Festival of Contemporary Music (10 > 24 October 2026).
