Italian artist and choreographer Andrea Salustri and New Zealand dancer and choreographer Oli Mathiesen are the winners of the – national and international – calls for two new choreographies. Selected from 695 submissions, their projects will make their debut at the (Venice, 17 July > 1 August 2026).

In INVISIBLE, Andrea Salustri focuses on the ephemeral nature of dance, attempting to answer the question: "Could dance merely be a way to briefly make the unseen visible?".

For JUST BETWEEN ME AND JESUS, Oli Mathiesen draws inspiration from club culture and religious imagery to explore "the collision of faith and sexuality through diverse movement styles and techno music, highlighting shared rituals, devotion, and belonging in an expression of collective euphoria".

Torna anche quest'anno il Concorso nazionale online Leone d'Argento per la creatività, che invita gli istituti scolastici a presentare progetti finalizzati a sperimentazioni laboratoriali di natura pratico-artistica, coreutica, teatrale, musicale e video/digitale: partecipa all’edizione 2025/2026 con la tua classe!

We are seeking the next generation of Dance artists!
Until Monday 26 January 2026, dancers and choreographers can apply for the international calls and take part in a special intensive training programme under the mentorship of Wayne McGregor.

Through classes and workshops with world-class teachers, the Biennale College Danza experience will take place during a three-month residency in Venice and will include:

• two new creations by Molissa Fenley and Maxine Doyle, premiering at the 20th International Festival of Contemporary Dance;

• a performance workshop for research and development led by McGregor, culminating in a site-specific event;

• two short original creations, conceived by the two selected choreographers for the Festival.

The stage of the (17 July > 1 August) is waiting for you: enter the selection process now!

Is acting your passion? If you're under 30, you have until Thursday 22 January 2026 to apply for the new call, which is "based on a single concrete idea: the physical presence of the mentors and the participants in the same room".

Up to 12 actresses/actors from around the world will be selected to take part in a residency project in Venice, where they will be guided by Willem Dafoe and internationally renowned masters, and will have the opportunity to attend all the activities of the (7 > 21 June) – and, as the Artistic Director himself said: "The rest will be explored as it occurs".

On the evenings of 6 and 7 December, the lights of the Teatro La Fenice illuminated an extraordinary reimagining of Luciano Berio's "Coro", marking the centenary of the great composer's birth. A captivating new Special Project breathed fresh life into this timeless masterpiece, unveiling it in an entirely innovative production. The voices of the Coro della Cattedrale di Siena "Guido Chigi Saracini" and the sounds of the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice blended seamlessly into a fluid dance under Wayne McGregor's visionary direction, giving rise to a performance that explored "different ways of 'setting to music'": as a sonic odyssey spanning the globe – from Peru to Polynesia, Persia to Croatia, Chile to Italy – it flowed through the streets of Venice, its echoes lingering in the hearts of the audience long after the curtain fell.
