On the day of my mother’s funeral, I suddenly fell into the river.
I still don’t know if I slipped… or if someone pushed me. 😢

I barely managed to crawl out through the reeds and lay there trying to breathe. That’s when I heard voices above me.

I looked up — and froze.

It was my husband and my best friend standing at the edge of the bank.

“She won’t make it out,” my husband said calmly.

Then my friend asked quietly:
“And what about her mother… did you pay them?”

My husband replied without hesitation:
“Yes. Everyone believed it was a heart attack.”

In that moment I realized something horrifying.

My mother didn’t die naturally… and they had just tried to kill me too. 😨
