Bodyease Therapies by Nicola

Bodyease Therapies by Nicola Effective & targeted massage therapy utilizing a range of modalities for a truly bespoke treatment.

I have a strong background in science and human anatomy and have always been fascinated with how the myriad of systems and processes that comprise our physical bodies work together to allow us to move and function without having to think about it. It’s only when we start feeling pain and discomfort or have suffered an injury do we realise just how much we take the unconscious workings of these wonderful machines for granted. Once we become aware of our physical tensions our nervous systems automatically go into a sympathetic state (fight or flight). This further affects our physical health and starts to impact our emotional wellbeing. I believe that repair and recovery begins when we are in a relaxed state and as such we need to guide our nervous system into a parasympathetic (rest and digest) response. Effective massage therapy can help create this shift and put you in a state of deep relaxation. I have extensive training in the following massage techniques:
• Swedish Massage
• Deep Tissue Massage
• Trager® Joint Release
• Shiatsu
• Reflexology
• Indian Head Massage
• Pregnancy Massage
Just as no two bodies are alike, no two massage treatments should be alike. I believe that each massage should be tailor made to a Client’s needs on that day. As such, I don’t provide a long, bewildering menu of different types of massages. I discuss your individual requirements at the start of your session & then let your body tell me the rest!

Back pain is the largest single cause of disability in the UK. Every year, approximately 1/3 of the population experience it.

Commonly, the discs, muscles and joints are thought to be the contributor to the experience of low back pain. However, in 2013, a study concluded that the fascial tissues of the low back, the thoracolumbar fascia, were highly innervated with sensory receptors (nociceptors) responding to noxious, damaging, stimuli.

In this study, the fascial tissues of the lower back were injected with hypertonic saline solution which sensitised the nociceptors. The patients reported high levels of pain. This study showed that the thoracolumbar fascia is highly innervated and suggested that the thoracolumbar fascia is the most 'pain-sensitive' deep tissue of the low back.

While this study is not contemporary, being over 5 years old, it heralded a significant change to the role fascia may play in the experience of pain.

MFR is a valuable therapy for the treatment of the symptoms associated with low back pain.

Soothe your body, Calm your mind

Hello! Welcome to my page.

What can I tell you, I love my work! After nearly 20 years working at 100 mph in the environmental engineering sector in London, I reconnected with my passion - functional anatomy and wellness . So, after moving to Vancouver, British Columbia, I retrained as a massage therapist.

As beautiful as Vancouver is, the island of my birth was calling to me and I decided to swap the Rockies for the Rock! Who needs the majesty of the Sea to Sky highway when you’ve got the windswept beauty and sandy expanse of the 5 mile road! So, with my wonderful husband in tow, I hot footed it back across the Atlantic and settled back in Jersey and set up Nicola Massage Therapy in July 2017.

One of the best compliments a massage therapist can get is a big loud tummy rumble from their client!
