Pain can really do a number on us. When you live with a deep seated pain for a significant length of time it can become the “norm.” We can become unknowingly and eerily comfortable with it. Often it’s our last connection to someone or something profoundly important to us and our lives, and so without even realizing it we end up holding on tightly to that very pain itself.

For example, I know so many people who, after losing a loved one, feel that their ache/pain is the last connection they have to them, and/or it’s become synonymous with the degree to which they loved them. Some even feel guilty about allowing that pain to lessen. I say lessen because everyone whose lived through loss knows that there will always be that ache there within us, we just learn to live with it better, and slowly allow it to settle in our bones instead of encompass our whole being.

We all have different reasons for holding on so tightly to our pain, and sometimes we may not even see or understand why at the time. Whatever the case, I hope with all my heart that if this strikes a chord with you, that you find your way through it by identifying, processing and releasing it’s grip on you and your life. I hope and pray for healing and peace. All my love!

At this weeks Youthful Minds meeting, we had the pleasure of meeting with the head of Children’s Health and Well-being, and the CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Service) manager to continue with our goals of working together.

Some of the key objectives from the meeting that we hope to achieve over the next 6 months are;

*helping to reduce stigma around accessing CAMHS - we will be sharing lots of positive stories of our experiences being supported by CAMHS. If anyone isn’t feeling they are getting the right support from CAMHS this can be dealt with quickly and effectively by contacting the manager.

*we hope to work together to support schools with responding to self harm behaviour

*we are going to to be supporting recruitment into the CAMHS service by representing young peoples voice through being part of the interview panels 😊

Thank you for supporting us ⭐️

This week is anti-bullying week. This diagram by the Anti-Bullying Alliance highlights the cyclical relationship between bullying and mental health. Bullying can cause mental health issues to develop, but did you know that young people experiencing difficulties with their mental health can be at particular risk of being bullied because of the stigma associated with having a mental health problem?

We all need to challenge anyone who seeks to shame others for mental health problems. Together, we can end the stigma.
