Forest bathing in a light mist, rising from the sea, cloaking most of the island elsewhere. Here at Val de La Mare Arboretum the stillness was broken by the Crows 🐦‍⬛ and small birds like Great t**s chattering in the trees.

Wandering through the Pine trees, the pine scent seemed to be everywhere, picked up by the watery atmosphere and held in the air. Breathing in this aromatic scent filled my senses, clearing my head.

Following the path through to the clearing, and a favourite spot to share foraged herbal tea and some baked treat.

Moving slowly on to the hidden Birch valley, the trees seeming quite ethereal in the mist, quiet sentinels.

Over the footbridge, along the trail, noticing the colours of the willows, the texture of the soft, fluffy p***y willows, and the new growth of branches reaching up out of the thickets. Some new conifers at the side of the trail too.

Back to the main track, always stopping to appreciate the Coastal redwood.

A perfect morning of Forest Therapy. 🌲🌲🌲

Thanks to for the work undertaken to regenerate the arboretum - nature is not static, when change happens suddenly there is often a feeling of grief for what has been lost, however, new ways of seeing the place bring a new perspective and hope.

Still waters…yesterday afternoon I took a short amble around the coastal path between Egypte and Bouley Bay. It was so peaceful, I hadn’t walked here for awhile, a real balm for the soul.

I love exploring and often look out for spots to enjoy a panoramic view from, I found one! A great boulder balancing on smaller ones marked the way.

A beautiful sit spot - Le Don Anderton, with a lovely memorial bench, land cared for by

Heartening to see the land being stewarded by these various organisations.

Forest bathing yesterday morning and a bimble at low tide late afternoon.

The peace found simply wandering, noticing the spring flowers and herbs that are emerging in the woods; and looking at seaweeds out on the reef was profound, and much needed.

Where do you find peace?

I'm feeling the influx of Spring energy, and am very grateful for the sense of new possibilities this year.
2025 was tough. It seems like I shed a few more skins!

I'll be deepening into various nature-based offerings...
teaching an introduction to foraging
forest bathing/forest therapy
Herbal workshops - making infused oils, balms and salves
ecotherapy

I've been unsatisfied with ways to share events, and book tickets for some time, and thankfully SCOOP The Sustainable Cooperative has sourced an ethical alternative, that supports community and charity by donating 100% of profits to charity.
So I have set up a profile on the Humanitix website for all future event bookings.

Here is my first event listing, commencing this Sunday, for the rest of the month, on Sunday mornings.

Please share with friends and family. Treat yourself!

Forest Bathing is not the same as hiking or a simple walk in the woods. The destination in forest bathing is "here" not 'there." A slow, sensory experience.

A little wander in the country lanes of St. Martin yesterday, around and about my field.

Blackthorn blossoms, Prunus spinosa, brightly lit in the sunshine ☀️ Such a welcome sight. You may notice the scent of almonds in the air…that’s cyanide! So, although the blossoms are used, coated in sugar, as cake decorations, it’s not recommended to eat any quantity. A syrup may be made, but again only use like an almond essence, in very small quantities. Produce the Sloe berries in autumn, known for Sloe gin particularly. I still remember my lovely cousin Phil persuading me to try a sloe berry on Dartmoor as a young girl - so astringent, it makes all the moisture in your mouth disappear in seconds, accompanied by a sweetness if the berry is ripe!

Bulrushes, or Great Reedmace, Typha latifoli, a wild food and fibre for textiles.

Vivid Daffodils, in a field.

Common ramping-fumitory, or wall fumitory, Fumaria muralis, has been known as a tonic for centuries, with anti-inflammatory, analgesic and diuretic properties. Also known to treat skin conditions, digestive problems and respiratory infections.

Lastly, a lone Quince, Cydonia oblonga, battered by Storm Goretti, is being propped up now in the hope that its roots will right it in time. I spotted its beautiful fruit in the autumn, which make lovely jellies and membrillo, a paste to serve with cheese.

An old granite trough and surrounds, gushing with water from recent rainfall, stands on the edge of the orchard.

Holding out for a drier Sunday for tomorrow’s Foraging & Forest Therapy walk, so many lovely herbs appearing…Spring’s Plant Medicine 🌱💚🌳

Yesterday I was refreshing a starter to bake a teatime treat - a Chocolate, Caraway and Fig Sourdough for the folks who join me. Lots of healthy goodness for your gut health.

I wonder wildcrafted herbal tea 🍵?

Meeting point tomorrow is in the National Trust for Jersey car park at 2pm. Hope to see you there!
