Meet Gareth, one of our experienced Funeral Directors, who has been part of Pitcher & Le Quesne for over 15 years.

Throughout his time with us, Gareth has supported countless families, including overseeing many complex repatriations both to and from the Island.
His steady guidance, attention to detail and quiet reassurance make a real difference during some of life’s most difficult moments.

We’re grateful for the experience and care Gareth brings to our team every day.

Jersey Hospice Care's annual Light Up a Life event offers a meaningful way to pause and reflect. Whether you attend in person or simply take a moment privately, it’s an opportunity to remember a loved one and hold their memory close.

Even after loss, love remains.
Memories remain.
And the people we miss continue to be a part of our story.

This week marks National Grief Awareness Week — a time dedicated to acknowledging grief, opening conversations, and reminding those who are grieving that they are not alone.

Grief has no timetable, no rule book and no “right” way to be felt. It may be quiet or overwhelming.
It may come in waves or sit silently in the background. However it appears, it is valid.

For anyone who is navigating loss — recently or many years on — please know this:

💙 You do not have to “be strong” every day.
💙 Your feelings are real and deserve space.
💙 Support is not a weakness — it is a kindness to yourself.
💙 There are people and organisations ready to listen when you are ready to talk.

As funeral professionals, we walk alongside families during some of their hardest moments. Long after the service has ended, grief continues — and support should too.

To anyone grieving today:
You are seen.
You are not forgotten.
And you do not have to walk this path alone.

If you or someone you know needs support, we encourage reaching out to local bereavement charities, helplines, or trusted community resources.

💛 Together, we can make it easier to talk about grief.

As we move into the festive season, we know that Christmas can be a particularly emotional time for those who have lost someone they love.

While many are celebrating and coming together, others are navigating memories, absence, and quiet moments of grief.

To honour those no longer with us, we have placed a Christmas Memory Tree in our reception from Monday and throughout December.

This tree is a space for remembrance — a place where memories, love, and names can continue to shine.

If you would like to add a message, name, or memory of someone special, you are warmly welcome to:

✨ Write a tag at our reception — we have tags available
✨ Post or drop off your own personal tag
✨If you cannot visit, call or email us, and we will write your message and place it on the tree for you

No matter how you choose to take part, please know this:
You are not alone, and every message placed on the tree represents a life loved and remembered.

We are thinking of all those facing this season with someone missing.

May this tree bring comfort, connection, and a gentle reminder that love never disappears — it simply changes form.

At this time of year, many of us are preparing to celebrate with loved ones — but for some families in our community, Christmas brings added worry and hardship.

That is why we are proud to stand behind the Jersey Christmas Appeal as they work to bring comfort and warmth to our island’s most vulnerable during the festive season. Every winter, the Appeal provides vouchers for food, heating and toys to individuals and families who need it most.

If you’re able to join us in this effort—whether by donating, pledging, or simply spreading the word—you’ll be helping make a real difference in lives that deserve our community’s support.

Sometimes, the smallest act of kindness can make the greatest difference. ❤️.

Today, on International Men’s Day, we take a moment to celebrate the incredible men who are part of our team at Pitcher & Le Quesne.

Every day, they bring compassion, professionalism, and strength to one of life’s most sensitive and emotional moments. Their ability to support families with empathy and dignity, while handling each detail with care, truly reflects the heart of what we do.

Thank you to each of you for the difference you make — not only to the families we serve but also within our team.

We were delighted to see this photo shared and to be reminded of such a meaningful moment.

Cherie presenting the prize money to Dementia Jersey, was truly an honour, and we’re grateful to have played a small part in recognising the incredible work they do within our community.

Once again, congratulations to the team — your dedication continues to make a real difference. 💙

Last week our volunteers accepted their Pride of Jersey prize money from our category sponsor Pitcher & Le Quesne Ltd Funeral Directors

Our volunteers have kindly chosen to donate the £1,000 back to the charity to go towards supporting people in Jersey living with dementia.

Winning the Pride of Jersey award is a wonderful recognition of the staggering 3,700 hours our ‘Purple Army’ of over 50 volunteers has dedicated to our community.

Thank you to each and every one of you! 💜

Bringing a loved one home is one of the most emotional journeys a family can face.

We recently received some heartfelt feedback from a family we supported through this process, who spoke of our compassion, professionalism, and the care we took to ensure every detail was handled with dignity and respect.

Repatriation can feel overwhelming, but our role is to make it as smooth and reassuring as possible — guiding families every step of the way as they bring their loved one home.

Today, we pause to remember those who gave their lives in service to others.

We honour their courage, their sacrifice, and the peace they fought to protect.

At 11am, we join the nation in a moment of silence to reflect and give thanks — remembering not only those who served in the past, but also those who continue to serve today.

Lest we forget.
