💡 Did you know, thinking about your favourite place in nature can help you to feel safe and calm

💭 To do this, think of your favourite place in nature. What might you see there? What might you hear? Can you feel anything on your skin or underfoot? Are there any familiar smells?

💭 Walk yourself through your favourite place in nature in your minds eye, noticing all of things that help you to feel safe, calm and relaxed as you go by

🏝️ Your favourite place could be a beach
🌳 Or it could be the woods
⛰️ It may even be in the mountains

💁‍♀️ But wherever your favourite place in nature is, the same principles to help you to relax apply

👀 Allow the sights, 👂 sounds and 🤲 sensations to take you deeper into relaxation with every breath

😌 And now that you have found this safe place, YOUR safe place, be sure to visit often ❤️

At Nurture, you can count on our therapy to be:

🛡️ S A F E - our techniques were originally developed by the Human Givens Institute and have been specially adapted to treat birth trauma by Jenny at https://www.birthtraumaresolution.com/understanding-birth-trauma/ There is currently no known adverse effects from our therapeutic techniques and new evidence is emerging all the time to support these techniques when treating birth trauma

⚡️ F A S T - our aim is to resolve your birth trauma in as few treatments as possible, this is usually three therapy sessions but occasionally can be up to 6, but not more than this! You can rest assured that we won’t keep you tied in to never ending therapy sessions

🎯 E F F E C T I V E - our therapeutic treatment is proven to be very effective in neutralising symptoms of birth trauma, with many clients reporting being symptom free after just two sessions

💬 I N D I V I D U A L I S E D - our care will always be individualised to each clients needs and wishes, we will never try to put you into a ‘category’ or treat you exactly the same as everyone else, you deserve care that is tailored to you

🔐 N O N - D I S C L O S U R E - perhaps one of the biggest benefits to our treatment, non-disclosure therapy means that the client does not have to disclose the details of the trauma if they do not wish to in order for the treatment to be effective. This is particularly helpful for those clients who feel that reliving the trauma will be too much for them and so and treatment

📝 H O L I S T I C - we know that trauma is, more often than not, multi factorial. Our therapy will ensure that your whole picture is taken into account to provide a holistic service

🚪 But while time may not always be healer, it does open doors

💫 While the majority of women who initially reported their pregnancy, birth, postnatal period, ttc journey or any other related experience to be a traumatic one, research suggests that 4-5% of women would fulfill the criteria for a diagnosis of PTSD or PTSS greater than 4 weeks following their experience

Christmas can be overwhelming at the best of times, this can be especially true when coping with trauma.

Here are 7 tips for coping during the festive period

☺️ Be gentle and patient with yourself - extend the kindness you show others to yourself, you deserve to treat yourself with love

🕰️ Remind yourself that this won’t last forever - our brains are very good at making us think the worst, but this feeling won’t last forever, with the right help you can feel well again. Remind yourself of this every time you feel the overwhelm creeping in

✋ Set boundaries for yourself - it can be easy to be swept up in the festivities and feel like we are responsible for everyone else’s happiness, this is not true. Set boundaries for yourself to ensure you aren’t taken advantage of by others

🎭 Allow yourself to experience your own feelings - feeling your feelings isn’t a bad thing, it can be unpleasant in the moment, but overall it is a healing process. Don’t keep things bottled up

🧖‍♀️ Take some time out for yourself - Christmas is a busy time of year, but don’t neglect yourself for the sake of everyone else. Be sure to take as much time for yourself as you need, this could be in 5 minute spells or hour long spells

🎁 Gift yourself the things you need - if you need time, gift it to yourself. If you need sleep, gift it to yourself. If you need a dance and signing session, gift it to yourself

💆‍♀️ Plan something for yourself - if you can’t take time for yourself immediately, plan something for yourself for as soon as you can, a nice long soak in the bath, your favourite Christmas movie marathon, a nice walk in your favourite place, a massage

🚨Remember, you are not alone. For urgent help you can to A&E or reach out to your GP or The Samaritans

🌟 For some, trauma is short lived and doesn’t have much of an impact either way

🌟 For others, trauma teaches resilience and they develop a ‘thick skin’

🌟 But for most, trauma can make it difficult to cope and emotions overwhelm every day life

❣️ If trauma has affected you in this way, it does NOT make you weak, it makes you human❣️
