π Breast Cancer Awareness Month β Know Your Normal π
This month (and always), letβs remind ourselves how important it is to check regularly. Early detection can make all the difference.
π‘ Why it matters:
β’ Breast cancer doesnβt always come with symptoms - and many changes are subtle.
β’ By checking your breasts monthly, youβre more likely to spot something unusual early.
β’ The NHS recommends doing this once a month, getting to know whatβs βnormalβ for you.
π How to check (a simple guide):
1. Stand in front of a mirror, arms by your sides - look for changes in shape, skin dimpling, puckering, ni**le changes or swelling.
2. Raise your arms above your head and look again.
3. Feel your breasts lying down, one side at a time, using the pads of your fingers in a circular motion - cover the whole area, including underarms and up to the collarbone.
4. Repeat while standing or in the shower - you might find it easier when your skin is wet.
5. If you notice any change thatβs new or persistent (a lump, skin change, ni**le discharge, etc.), get in touch with your GP - donβt ignore it.
