From Jersey classrooms to the UK national stage 🏎️🏁

Pupils from Jersey primary schools delivered an outstanding performance at the STEM Racing UK National Finals, competing against more than 70 teams from across the UK, as well as international teams, at the Magna Science Adventure Centre in Rotherham on 24 March 2026.

Four Jersey teams (VCP, FCJ, La Moye and Grouville) represented the island following their success in the local primary finals held earlier this year.

VCP’s Fire Tyres team recorded the fastest reaction time in the entire competition and placed fifth overall, while FCJ’s Takedown team won the Verbal Presentation Award for their teamwork and communication.

Innovation Manager, Charlie Miles said “the results demonstrate the strength of the island’s young talent in science, technology and engineering. To see Jersey primary school pupils competing, and winning awards at a UK national level is a fantastic achievement."

We’ve published the AI Playbook for Jersey, a framework to help our island prepare for both the opportunities and risks of AI.

Developed through the Jersey AI Council, the Playbook brings together government, industry and regulators to align on a clear, shared approach to AI adoption. It is supported by local stakeholders and experts including Professor Alan Brown and Dame Wendy Hall.

It sets out practical guidance for organisations, with a focus on where AI can have the biggest impact in Jersey, including financial services and the public sector, while also addressing the risks.

This is not a strategy. It is a framework built on shared principles to support responsible adoption and better decision-making across the island.

Alongside this, we’ve launched a new AI page, bringing together tools, events and support to help organisations take action.
