This is truly amazing.
Patients with an aggressive form of liver cancer survived significantly longer when treated with medicinal cannabis, according to a study of 491 patients receiving palliative care in northeastern Thailand.
In the study, researchers observed two groups of patients in palliative care with advanced-stage bile duct cancer. Of the 491 patients, 404 were receiving standard palliative care, and the remaining 87 were receiving cannabis treatment.
After results were adjusted for covariables, the study showed that those in the standard group survived for an average of 0.83 months, while survival in the cannabis treatment group was measured at 5.66 months.
The study authors suggested that cannabis could alleviate the symptoms of the cancer, such as pain and loss of appetite, as well as pointing to pre-clinical studies that suggest cannabis may have anti-tumour properties.
