Reading to your child daily can greatly shape their future 📚✨. It's not just about academic success—it also boosts interpersonal skills , attention span 🧠, resilience 💪, self-esteem 😊, and family connections 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦. Research now shows that too much screen time harms speech and comprehension 📱🚫, so it's important to limit it and make reading part of your routine 🛋️📖. Start from birth; it's never too late to replace screens with daily reading for your child's development 🍼❤️.

🤔Worried about why your little one needs the hepatitis B shot at birth?👶🏾

Here’s the scoop for parents:

💉Giving the hep B vaccine to all newborns is one of the best ways to keep them safe—not just at birth, but as they grow up!

🧪Even if you test negative, babies can still be exposed by loving caregivers who may not know they’re infected 👨‍👩‍👧‍👦

💪🏽This vaccine helps your baby’s immune system build strong protection against a virus that can hurt their liver—even causing serious problems like liver disease or cancer later on🫀

Waiting to vaccinate doesn’t offer any extra benefits and leaves your child at risk🚫

Giving them this little shield right away means you’re protecting their health for years to come! 🔰✅💯

🇯🇲Stay Safe After Hurricane Melissa!🌧️
Cases of Leptospirosis are on the rise! This disease spread by water and soil contaminated with urine from infected animals, especially rats. You can get sick by touching contaminated water or food, or if you have cuts that come into contact with floodwaters.

👀Look out for these symptoms:
• Fever, chills, headaches, flu-like symptoms (mild illness can treat with fever medicine and fluids)
• Severe cases: difficulty breathing, severe pain, jaundice, change in urine may indicate liver, kidney or other organ damage — get medical help immediately!!!

Protect your family:
✔️ Stay out of floodwaters
✔️ Wear boots & gloves if you must enter affected areas
✔️ Avoid unsafe food or water
✔️ Help eliminate rats around your home!!!

Jamaica Parents! Disasters like Hurricane Melissa can really shake things up for our kids. As parents, we want to help, but it’s not always easy to know what to do. If your child is scared, confused, or just feeling “off,” you’re not alone! Here are 3 simple ways to support your child through tough times: Open Dialogue, Reassurance, and Rewind & Repeat 💬🤗🔁
Open Dialogue 💬
Make space for your child to talk about their feelings, even the big, scary ones. Kids see the world differently because their brains are still growing. Sometimes, just listening and letting them share what’s on their mind is all they need
Reassurance 🤗
When things get scary, kids can feel small and out of control. They might worry that nobody can fix things. After you’ve listened, remind your child that you’re there for them and you’re going to keep them safe. Your calm and comfort are their anchor.
Rewind & Repeat 🔁
Kids love routine even if they act like they don’t! Repeating what they’ve shared and giving the same reassurance again and again helps them feel safe and steady. It’s OK to say “I’m here for you” a hundred times. The more they hear it, the more they believe it.

🌞🌴 Smile Jamaica! 🌴🌞

As we experience this unusually hot summer, it’s important to keep our little ones cool and happy. Here are some fun tips to beat the heat and enjoy the sunny days! 😎

1. Stay Hydrated 💧: Make sure your children drink plenty of water. Add a splash of fun with fruity ice cubes! 🍊🍒🍍

2. Dress Light 👗: Light, breathable clothing is perfect for this weather. Think cotton and linen!

3. Splash Time 💦: Set up a small pool or sprinkler in the yard. Water play is a great way to cool down and have fun!

4. Stay Indoors During Peak Hours 🏠: The sun is strongest between 10 AM and 4 PM. Plan indoor activities during these hours.

5. Healthy Snacks 🍉: Offer refreshing snacks like watermelon, cucumber, and popsicles. They are hydrating and delicious!

Remember, keeping your children safe and comfortable is the top priority. Enjoy the summer and make wonderful memories! 🌞❤️
