On August 7, 2025, members of the visited the offices of the Jamaica Family Planning Association at 65 East Street, Kingston. The group was in Jamaica for a series of meetings and consultations with youth groups and youth advocates on the issue of comprehensive sexuality education.

The 16-person group led by Youth Networker, Ela Urquijo, included youth from Antigua, Argentina, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Grenada, Guadeloupe, Guatemala, Guyana, Honduras, Jamaica, Mexico, Peru and Paraguay. They were accompanied by staff from the Mexico and Trinidad and Tobago offices, and translators.

President of the JFPA Board of Directors, Dr Shakira Maxwell, linked virtually to welcome the group. WoldeAb Ross, President of the JFPA’s Youth Advocacy Movement (YAM), guided a short programme to highlight JFPA’s current youth-focussed work. Presentations featured YAM’s outreach and education in Kingston and St Ann, media advocacy by YAM in St. Ann – an EU/CVSS project- and peer education interventions in the South East and Southern health regions, supported by Global Affairs Canada.

A rich Q&A period followed. The group toured the building before proceeding to do a tour of the downtown area.
