The Jamaican Psychological Society is proud to introduce the JamPsych Diaspora Committee - an initiative designed to strengthen collaboration between Jamaican mental health professionals at home and across the globe.

This work will unfold in phases.

Phase 1 (Now – next few months):
We are calling clinicians in the diaspora to become members of JamPsych. Building a strong, unified membership base is the foundation for sustainable growth, collaboration, and national impact.

Psychologists, clinicians, researchers, and academics of Jamaican heritage practicing internationally are encouraged to formally align with the Society.

Phase 2 will be announced in June.

Together, we are building a globally connected community committed to advancing psychology and expanding access to culturally responsive mental health care in Jamaica.

Happy Social Work Month!

Social work in the Caribbean did not begin in private practice.

It began in villages after emancipation. In church courtyards. In cooperative savings groups. In school systems. In public hospitals. In communities navigating colonial rule, migration, and economic transition.

🇧🇧Across Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad & Tobago, and The Bahamas, social workers have shaped child welfare systems, strengthened public health initiatives, supported families through migration, and advocated for policies that protect the most vulnerable.

Caribbean social work has always been communal.
Relational.Culturally rooted.

This Social Workers Month, we honor that legacy.

🎤And throughout this month, we will be announcing the social worker speakers joining us at the Caribbean Mental Health Summit 2026? leaders advancing mental health across the region and diaspora.

Because this is not new work.It is legacy work.

When I come back to the Caribbean my nervous system exhales. It’s where I remember who I am outside of emails, timelines, and deliverables.

And even on “vacation,” the work follows me because the vision is alive.

I had meaningful conversations with locals about mental health in our culture. About stigma, silence, and survival. I listened. I held space.

I was reminded again why this work matters so deeply for our people at home and for the diaspora across the world.

Restored Hope Counseling Center is more than a practice.
It is a beacon for Caribbean stories, Faith, and generational healing.

Carrying a vision like this isn’t light work. It stretches you. It refines you. It requires obedience.

But I’m grateful that God continues to grant me the grace, favor, and strength to build what He placed in my heart.

This is legacy.
This is alignment.
This is Restored Hope.

Happy Reggae History Month🇯🇲

Reggae has always been more than music.
It has been protest. Therapy. Identity.

For many across the Caribbean diaspora, we didn’t learn emotional language in counseling rooms first, we learned it through speakers turned all the way up.

The bass grounded us. The lyrics named what we were carrying. The rhythm reminded us we were still here.

This Reggae History Month, we honor the artists and ancestors who gave us soundtracks for survival, and healing.

🎶 What reggae song carried you through a hard season?

Drop it below and let’s build a diaspora healing playlist.

Last week, I gave away 30 free summit tickets to local Jamaican residents sparking real conversations with Uber drivers, correctional officers, bartenders, waitresses etc. It reminded me why this matters. This summit is for the people. Yes, mental health professionals will be in the room, but so will the community. Some who may never step into a therapy office yet will hear information that can genuinely transform their lives.
There is space for everyone here.
This is RESTORED HOPE.
