Still can't smell properly after your flu symptoms have cleared?

That lingering loss of smell isn’t something to brush off. It could signal post-viral inflammation or even damage to your olfactory nerves.

For some people, it’s the beginning of chronic sinusitis or long-term nasal complications.
And no,just because you can breathe doesn’t mean your sinuses are fine.

Whether it's from the flu, or repeated colds, if your sense of smell hasn’t returned after weeks, it's time to get it checked.

Early ENT intervention can make a big difference in recovery.

Book your sinus assessment with Dr Ryan Lodenquai at www.werfamilymedical.com Your nose might be trying to tell you something important.

An outstanding turnout and a strong showing from the players on the pitch. Thank you to the parents for the trust, commitment, and support that make opportunities like this possible, and to the players who showed focus, discipline, and ambition throughout the showcase.

*A number of players will be contacted to discuss next steps and potential opportunities as part of the pathway process.*

One key takeaway shared with the boys by Coach Owen Finberg was clear and consistent: *talent may open doors, but strong grades keep them open.* Academic performance remains critical to maximizing scholarships and long-term opportunities for student-athletes pursuing high school and college pathways in the USA.

We want to thank:
for the use of the field, The management team and coaches at
for the use of their Veo
for the use of their bibs

What if someone else’s sick child was sitting next to yours?

We know it’s hard to miss school. But a fever, cough, runny nose, or sore throat isn’t “just a cold” anymore. Germs spread fast, and one sick child can mean an entire classroom down by Friday.

On this episode of The Truth, we’re saying it plainly: keep them home.
Rest, recover, and reduce the risk for others.

If you’re unsure what’s safe or not, let’s talk. We’re here to guide you.

Every show your child watches is teaching them something, but is it what you want them to learn?

From chaotic cartoons to thoughtful storytelling, the quality of screen time matters. Some shows support speech, emotional intelligence and teamwork. Others? Not so much. As paediatricians, we see how these choices show up in real life, from attention span to behaviour.

What shows do you let your child watch and why? Drop your favourites below and let’s start the conversation.

Hepatitis B might sound intimidating, but here’s what every parent needs to know.

This virus quietly attacks the liver and is often symptomless in children, which means it can spread before you even realise something’s wrong. It can pass from mother to baby during birth or through contact with infected blood or body fluids.

The solution? A safe, effective vaccine given shortly after birth that protects for years. And the younger a child is when exposed, the higher the risk of chronic infection, which is why early protection is everything.

Let’s talk about it. Come in and ask your questions, get peace of mind, and protect your little one from the start. Book your visit at werkidsja.com.

Today was a tough day.

One after the next, little faces, heavy eyes, tired bodies. Almost every child I tested came back positive for Influenza A.

It’s not just “a little flu.” These kids are feeling the weight of it, high fevers, deep fatigue, runny noses, constant coughing. It’s hitting hard, and it’s spreading fast.

Please, if your child is showing signs, don’t wait. Keep them home from school. Let them rest. And bring them in so we can take care of them properly.

We’re here for your little ones, always.

No one tells you how hard it is every time they leave.
You’d think it gets easier, it doesn’t.

The hugs feel tighter. The house gets quieter. And every little thing reminds you of their laughter, their mess, their presence.

But what a joy it was to have them home. To wake up to the noise, the hugs, the endless stories and the kitchen raids.

These are the moments I hold onto. Until the next break, until I get to hug them again.

Love you endlessly, my boys.
💛

Why give the Hepatitis B vaccine at birth? Let’s clear the air with 10 facts every parent should know.

1. Hepatitis B is a viral infection that attacks the liver.

2. It can be passed from mother to baby during childbirth.

3. Many infected people don’t show symptoms, especially newborns.

4. Babies who catch Hep B are more likely to develop chronic liver issues.

5. The birth dose protects before exposure even happens.

6. It’s a global recommendation from WHO and CDC.

7. The shot is safe, well-studied, and given worldwide.

8. One dose at birth starts the protection; follow-up doses complete it.

9. It doesn’t interfere with breastfeeding.

10. It’s one of the best ways to protect your child’s future liver health.

Got questions? Let’s talk.

These could be signs of something more serious that needs evaluation.

If you’ve been brushing off your nosebleeds, don’t. Book a consultation with Dr Ryan Lodenquai, our ENT Specialist at We ‘R’ Family Medical Centre.
