Paediatric Eye Centre "We love seeing kids." Jamaica's premiere paediatric optometric practice. Paediatric Eye Centre is the premiere eye practice in Jamaica for children.

We provide specialized care to children 6 months to 18 years old along with routine eye examinations for the entire family. Our principal optometrist, Dr. Cardice Riley-Ricketts completely understands the importance of early eye-care. The energy that kids bring spurred her to establish a dedicated paediatric practice in April 1998, though she already had established eye-care practices operating in Central Jamaica. Our multi-disciplinary approach to paediatric eye-care integrates a detailed assessment of the visual system with primary level evaluations of perceptual, cognitive, tactile, and auditory development. This holistic approach offers a greater opportunity to detect the true cause of developmental challenges a child may be encountering. Our Practice offers the following services:
• Complete Eye Exams
• Contact Lenses
• Glasses
• Glaucoma Testing
• Pre- and Post-operative Care for Eye-turns (Strabismus) and for Cataracts. Our Developmental Centre offers:
• Physical Growth Tracking

What is Amblyopia?
Amblyopia, also known as “lazy eye” happens when one eye doesn't develop proper vision, causing the brain to rely more on the stronger eye. Over time, the weaker eye gets even weaker if left untreated.
It’s not always easy to spot your child may not even complain. That’s why regular eye exams are so important!

It could be strabismus, a condition where the eyes are misaligned and don’t move together as they should. This can show up at birth or later on and while it might look cute to some, it can seriously affect your child’s vision.
If left untreated, the brain may begin to ignore the weaker eye, leading to permanent vision loss
