Progress is being made... One day at a time. Melissa appears to have wiped out the bamboo supply, so I had to substitute them with board, which I like actually.
Currently, there is a shortage of building blocks due to the power outage, and the factories are not operational, so a separation between 3 Dives and I is not possible as yet.
Still giving thanks and taking it easy.

Having been troubled by my experience yesterday, I chose to give more today. We acquired groceries and got some toiletries from a friend and decided to distribute bags in a broader area. Today, I traveled to Whitehouse, where I observed increasing devastation with distance. The interior of one house was more severely damaged than its exterior. When we gave a bag to a man, a large group of people approached from out of nowhere, prompting us to continue giving in less crowded areas. World Central Kitchen and other donors were also providing food in several areas. The rain caused landslides in Cave, resulting in road blockages and extending our travel time by nearly two hours.
Not going back there soon though. Need to continue doing my own repairs but it's a good feeling to be able to help.

I realize today they could use some clothes pins. They spread the clothes over the downed power lines to dry and the wind blow them all in the dirt.

Also drove up to Sandals Whitehouse, that will take months to repair. It's trashed.

Good morning,
Anyone coming soon and could bring any of these, I'd really appreciate it. I do not know what its called but I got it with a solar fan. Being without power for 2 weeks I've being using it to charge my phone and is thinking how some of those affected people would be happy with it.
It's just a solar panel with a USB connection on the back.

The most distressing aspect of today was witnessing the relentless rain. The downpour was merciless. I observed individuals standing on the foundation of their homes, as it was the only remaining part, holding tarpaulin over their heads for shelter. I am concerned that aid may not reach all of these individuals in a timely manner to restore their lives to normalcy, given the sheer number of people affected and the fact that I did not even visit the most severely impacted areas. Though recovery may take time, it is not impossible for many to overcome. Even before receiving food, they require a sense of hope and faith. If they lose their spiritual foundation, they risk becoming mentally and physically lost as well. I pray that they understand their current circumstances do not dictate their future.

Seeing images on social media and seeing them in real life are two complete different things. You can't even decide who to help. There's miles and miles of people begging for anything. I gave the little things I had and all the cash I had and though I know that's all I could do, it felt like nothing. I saw women in just panties with naked children on the road. From toddlers to grannies on the roadside begging in droves. The minute the vehicle stopped, it was surrounded by faces pleaing hopefully for some cash or kind. I couldn't continue taking pics. I just wanted to leave the area. It seemed unreal, although I've been watching it circulating over the last 2 weeks. I don't even know what they're going to buy with money because there isn't even any business operating in the area.
It's just so heartbreaking to see how life can flip in the twinkling of an eye.
I know how hard it must be for some of these people to beg.
But it's joyful to see people are helping.

Giving thanks for the small things....
Since before the hurricane, I haven't been able to buy bread because the shelves are bare. Few days after the hurricane, my dear friend Shelly-Ann brought me one from Kingston. Then today, my sister brought me these two from Florida.
Didn't know I'd miss bread.
