a scientific overview of the epidemiologic profile and biology insights in carcinogenesis or molecular risk stratification of select GI malignancies in Asia Pacific
a critical summary of ongoing clinical research activities in those tumours in Asia Pacific from collaborative research groups, with concluding challenges and opportunities.

The ATLAS–ESMO session

Dr. Oosting will provide an overview of the Frameworks that ESMO is developing so as to enable sustainable, value-based care: MCBS for the magnitude of clinical benefit, ESCAT for the level of actionability of tumour biomarkers, the mapping of biomolecular technologies availability, some Reimbursement principles.

On November 28, Dr. Indri Rooslamiati, Director of the Center for Biomedical and Health Genomics (BB Binomika) and the Indonesia Clinical Research Center (INA-CRC) at the Ministry of Health of Indonesia, visited the ATLAS Project team.
Dr. Rooslamiati introduced the mission and past achievements of the institutions she leads. Based on this overview, both teams exchanged views on the potential signing of an NDA and future cooperation in international collaborative research.
This visit marks an important step toward strengthening collaboration between the ATLAS Project and Indonesian institutions. Further progress in our partnership is highly anticipated.

From the ATLAS Sarcoma and Rare Cancer Group (ATLAS SRCG), Dr Tom Wei-Wu Chen, Dr Valerie Yang (MB BChir, PhD), Dr Shintaro Iwata, and Dr Tetsuya Sekita joined the 30th Connective Tissue Oncology Society Annual Meeting (CTOS 2025) in Boca Raton.
On behalf of ATLAS SRCG, Dr Valerie Yang delivered an oral presentation titled:
“Soft Tissue Sarcoma Care Across Asia: A Multinational Survey of Physician Practice.”

This was the first oral presentation accepted from the ATLAS Sarcoma and Rare Cancer Group at CTOS, and the talk was successfully completed. We will continue to boost our SRCG activities and strengthen collaboration to improve sarcoma and rare cancer care across Asia.

Ms. Shakirin Kamaruzaman, Clinical Operations Manager at Clinical Research Malaysia (CRM), visited the National Cancer Center, Japan. We were delighted to welcome her to our center and happy to see her in Japan!
Ms. Shakirin supports clinical trials and educational programs at Malaysian sites for the ATLAS Project. During her visit, we discussed future activities and shared insights about our respective cultures. We truly enjoyed our time with her and look forward to continuing our strong collaboration.

On November 18, 2025, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dr. Teruhiro Utsugi (Chairman of the Board of Directors) and Dr. Kenji Suzuki (Secretariat) from the Kobayashi Foundation for Cancer Research to the National Cancer Center.
The foundation has been providing invaluable support for research and activities on cancer therapy not only in Japan but also across Asia. We are deeply grateful for their continued support of the ATLAS Project.
During the visit, Dr. Terada reported on the use of the grant received this fiscal year, and we shared future directions for the ATLAS Project's activities.
We look forward to further strengthening our collaboration going forward.

On 11 October, the ATLAS HNCG Meeting was held at Regent Taipei, Taiwan, organized and sponsored by TopAlliance Biosciences. The meeting brought together our group members to discuss advances in HNCG research and regional collaborations. Participants shared insights on the latest developments and explored opportunities for future joint projects. We look forward to continued collaboration and progress in this important field.
