Infant Feeding Counselor — COMPLETE 🤱🏼
When starting my myofunctional journey, I quickly realized the population who needs the most help: infants and kids. I really started to help with Grant and his super cute thumb sucking habit 🤪 Since then, I started educating myself more on infants and where it all begins. I remember being a first time mom struggling to breastfeed and being told “the pain will go away”. All of my concerns, *AS A NEW MOM AND PROFESSIONAL*, were dismissed for a tight lingual frenum (aka tongue tie) 😝
Fast forward to the last two years of a rabbit hole, and I was right all along. If my concerns would have been taken seriously instead of “you’ll get used to the pain”, it would have alleviated other difficulties with allergies, airway, facial growth and space.
I perused these courses to not only educate and help my own kids, but to help other parents and their kiddos too. Too often parents, especially new moms, have their concerns disregarded. I want to be able to help them when they feel like they’ve hit a wall.
This took longer than I anticipated due to the difficulty of getting my observation hours in. I’ve been lucky that when we move around, I can find a dental hygiene position pretty seamlessly. Being at the mercy of whatever the military will allow me to do out here was frustrating. It’s eye opening to see how many other spouses are out here with professional positions that are unable to work to their full skill set.
Who knows what course will be next 🤪
