A baby won't remember who held them, but a new mother/parent will certainly remember who was there for them in the trenches of postpartum.

Hold the mom—clean the home, make dinner, play with the older kids, walk the dogs, take her out of the house (if she wants), and literally hold her.

..even if it is just for 5 minutes. Your nervous system will thank you.

Come on. We need to do better. Visitors want to hold your baby.
Helpers want to hear what you need. I had this conversation on the weekend with a client. She asked me “How do I tell people that I need to hold my baby and have someone else do the stuff around the house?”
My response was: “You tell them exactly that. My body hurts. It doesn’t help me when you hold my baby and I drag my sore, sleep deprived body around the house cleaning up. If you are here to help please do this:
🌟Run the dishwasher
🌟Take out the garbage
🌟Vacuum
🌟Meal prep
🌟Fold the laundry
And a million other things!
We need to take care of the parent so the parent can take care of the baby. Helpers before visitors, always.
