Eldoret people are still laughing after drama involving a young lady by the name Cheptoo who work as waitress in one of the hotel in the city and a Mzee Major Telei, the wealthy tycoon who owns more maize and wheat than the entire NCPB silos. Apart from land and buildings, it turns out the old man also owns a “third leg” that refuses to retire!
Cheptoo, thinking she had landed a jackpot, agreed to keep Mzee company, assuming it would be a quick “2-minute noodles” affair. In her mind, the old man would cough, sneeze, collapse in 30 seconds, and then hand her a fat brown envelope. Little did she know the veteran was once a KDF officer, still hits the gym three times a week, and lives strictly on kienyeji foods. Forget energy drinks—this man is powered by boiled nduma, mursik, and honey straight from the hive.
The “simple deal” quickly turned into a military training session. Mzee launched round one, then round two, then round three like he was competing at the Olympics. By round four, Cheptoo was already waving a white bedsheet flag, crying for help like someone under attack. Unfortunately, Mzee was just warming up. He was shouting “Mission not yet accomplished!” and demanding a fifth round.
It took the intervention of hotel workers, who rushed in after hearing screams louder than a political rally, only to find Cheptoo clinging to the bed for dear life while Mzee was still reloading. The staff had to physically pull her out, while the old man, still sweating and smiling, kept begging, “Just one more for the road!”
