FACT CHECK: CLARIFICATION ON PATIENT DISCHARGE INCIDENT

The Management of Embu Level 5 Hospital wishes to address and clarify misinformation circulating regarding a patient ( Name withheld)admitted to our facility on the 26th of January as a victim of abuse.
To ensure the public is accurately informed, here are the factual details of the case:
✅ Continuous care: From the moment of admission on the 26th, the patient has been admitted in the ward under continuous medical observation and care by our doctors and nurses.
✅ The discharge request: Today, Monday, the patient’s family, accompanied by police officers, requested the discharge of the patient, stating that the officers would facilitate further specialized logistics (MRI services).
✅Adherence to protocol: In compliance with the family's and law enforcement's request, the Hospital Administration followed the standard ✅Discharge to Facility of Choice" protocol. The patient was cleared and handed over to the police and family for that purpose.
✅ Proactive engagement: Following the discharge, a situation arose at the Police Station regarding the patient's custody. The Hospital Administration took the initiative to follow up, de-escalate the situation, and explain to the public that our priority remains the patient's health.
✅Our position: Embu Level 5 Hospital remains committed to the wellbeing of this patient. We have explicitly informed the family that should the patient require further medical attention, our doors remain open for immediate readmission.
We urge the public to desist from spreading unverified information that undermines the morale of healthcare workers who have been attending to this patient diligently for days.
