At the Aerial + Flow Arts Sanctuary we inspire our community members to connect, have fun and express themselves through a variety of unique movement disciplines, proving not even the sky’s the limit on your wellness potential.
I grew up in small-town, suburban America where the social atmosphere felt competitive and superficial. Individuality and self-expression were undervalued, feeling and healing took a backseat to curating a certain outside appearance. From a young age, I tried to fit into a mould rather than be myself. As I matured, I felt disconnected from the world and without purpose.
In 2007, I burst my hometown bubble and traveled to Rwanda with a survivor of the 1994 genocide. I witnessed suffering and forgiveness on a scale that jolted my eyes open to the power of HEALING. I knew I had to return to East Africa, I had to use my privilege to create a platform for others, and I had to help people heal.
I discovered yoga, circus arts, and community as catalysts for positive change and purpose in my life. In 2014, I decided to move to East Africa permanently to work in service. By 2017, I realized my passion was to develop a scholarship program that gave local youth the opportunity to pursue wellness and entertainment as a career.
Now we have a place to call home at the Aerial + Flow Arts Sanctuary in Nairobi, Kenya, our very own studio and community center where we:
1) train and empower aspiring wellness leaders, circus entertainers, and ambassadors of change
2) build a supportive fitness community that motivates our members to live healthily, express creatively and have fun
3) host transformative wellness retreats and service learning opportunities that develop self-love, compassion and connectedness
While some events are on hiatus, we DO offer in-studio AND online classes including: aerial silks, aerial yoga, yoga dance, vinyasa flow, ashtanga, hatha, HIIT, acroyoga, kundalini, hula hooping, mobility, cirque kids, afroSass dance and pilates + core.
