Depression doesn’t only affect adults. Children and teens can experience it too.

Most of the time, it may show up as anger, withdrawal, or poor school performance.

When left undiagnosed, adolescent depression can lead to self-harm and higher su***de risk. Early conversations save lives.

Take time to check in with your child. Ask open questions. Listen without judgment.

“How do I know if it’s depression or just stress?”

That’s one of the questions our team gets most often.

Mary, our CSRI clinical psychologist, explains:

“If sadness, loss of interest, or hopelessness last more than two weeks, or if you’ve had thoughts that life isn’t worth living, that’s your sign to reach out. Don’t wait for it to feel ‘bad enough.’”

Early help-seeking reduces the likelihood of suicidal ideation and improves long-term recovery outcomes.

CSRI’s counselors are available to listen — free and confidentially. Call us today!

We screen our eyes, our blood pressure, and our hearts, but rarely our minds. Yet mental health screenings are just as important.

CSRI’s screening initiatives have helped hundreds identify depression early and get timely help through therapy to peer support groups.

The earlier depression is detected, the easier it is to treat, and the lower the risk of su***de.

Awareness is prevention.

Call us for a private mental health screening and share the our phone number with someone who might need it; +25470338130.

Take a few minutes this week to learn the signs of depression and share them.

Depression doesn’t have one face. It can look like the friend who cancels plans, the employee who suddenly loses focus, or the sibling who’s “always online” but emotionally absent.

When symptoms go unnoticed, pain festers in silence.

Recognizing early signs like sleep changes, hopelessness, and isolation can interrupt that cycle.

Knowledge saves lives.

Visit csricentre.org for free awareness materials and call us at 0703388130 for mental health support.

This is your reminder to ask your friends — really ask: “How are you feeling, really?”

Then listen. And if you’re unsure, guide them to www.csricentre.org.

Because one question can change a life and a 3-minute screening can open the door to healing conversations that might never happen otherwise.

Someone we supported said, “I thought I was just lazy… until I realized I have been feeling numb and overwhelmed with no joy for anything I did in months. It wasn't until it was almost too late that I realized I was depressed.”

Depression can be quiet. It doesn’t always announce itself through tears or breakdowns, sometimes it hides behind withdrawal, irritability, or loss of interest.

Without early screening, depression often escalates from emotional numbness to self-harm ideation and sometimes may lead to su***de.

But when noticed early, small steps like therapy, social connection, rest can prevent deep crisis.

If you’ve been feeling off, disconnected, or unusually hopeless, please don’t wait for it to become “serious.” Ask for help, it's available.

Call CSRI’s 24/7 line for mental health screening and confidential support.

Sometimes depression doesn’t look like sadness.

It looks like a smile that feels forced, like exhaustion that no amount of sleep can fix, and like showing up every day while silently falling apart.

Untreated depression is one of the strongest risk factors for su***de. Yet, with early screening and help, recovery is not only possible: it’s expected.

October is National Depression & Mental Health Screening Month.

Take 5 minutes to check in with yourself or someone you love.

Call Centre for Su***de Research and Intervention for confidential mental health screening through 0703388130.
