THE SURPRISING HEALTH BENEFITS OF REDUCING FRUIT CONSUMPTION: Let's Discuss!

Today, I want to dive into a thought-provoking topic: REDUCING OUR FRUIT INTAKE and the incredible benefits that come along with it. Now, before you rush to judgment, hear me out!

1. BALANCING SUGAR LEVELS: While fruits undeniably offer essential vitamins, minerals, and fiber, they also contain naturally occurring sugars. By consuming less fruit, we allow our bodies to stabilize blood sugar levels more effectively, reducing energy peaks and crashes throughout the day. If you have diabetes, this will work best for you.

2. IMPROVED GUT HEALTH: Although fruits are packed with dietary fiber, they can also be high in fermentable sugars and can worsen symptoms of certain conditions, like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO). By moderating our fruit consumption, we give our guts a chance to heal and maintain a more balanced microbial environment.

3. ENCOURAGING A VARIED DIET: Sometimes, when we rely too heavily on fruits for our daily nutritional needs, we unintentionally neglect other vital food groups. I Know people who eats fruits only as either breakfast or lunch 👎🏾. By limiting fruit intake, we highlight the importance of diversifying our diets and exploring other nutrient-dense options such as vegetables, whole grains, lean proteins, and healthy fats.

4. LOWERING SUGAR DEPENDENCY: Fruits can be addictive, thanks to their natural sweetness. By reducing our fruit consumption, we can break free from the cycle of sugar dependence and begin to appreciate the subtle flavors of other foods without relying solely on sweet tastes.

5. WEIGHT MANAGEMENT: While fruits are generally considered healthy, their caloric content can add up quickly, especially for those mindful of their calorie intake. By cutting back on fruits, we can have greater control over our calorie consumption, helping us maintain a healthy weight.

Now, it's important to remember that

Nutrition and Wellness

A lot of information is available nowadays on the internet, books and personal blogs about nutrition and many exercises programs. It’s becoming difficult to choose which information to believe in or which ones have scientific research backing it up.

But because we’re desperate to achieve good health and do away with those extra pounds, we are easily lured into buying nutrition programs or supplements (should I call them pills? because there’s nothing they’re supplementing your body with) which will ‘work’ in your favor for a specific period or months, then you end up getting back to where we started.

There’s no perfect meal plan. Yes, there’s perfect meal plan to those with common sense. When you dedicate yourself in eating healthy, and by healthy I mean no processed foods, diet less in animal sources and more of vegetables, fruits and legumes, you can independently be your own health doctor or nutritionist.

As a nutritionist, I’ll give you education on how you’re supposed to eat and provide you list of foods from various sources that lives you with freedom to choose and eat from them. I won’t lie to you that following my strict eating plan will do you good, (which actually does wonders and people appreciate it, especially those with chronic illnesses). Supposed it works on you well and suddenly am out of reach, how will you manage on your own? It’ll be better for you to learn and understand what your body needs and just consult where you have doubts with your registered nutritionist.
