After the smoke, the Silence
In the heart of the village, a mother stands quietly by a fresh grave. Just days ago, her son_barely out of high school _was full of life, dreams and the fierce fire of generation demanding change. Now, she buries him in silence, sorrounded by mourners who no longer have words _ only tears.
Across the country, the streets that once echoed with chants and cries for justice have gone quiet. But inside homes, schools and hearts, the emotional wounds remain open.
The recent protests have left an entire generation bruised _ not just physically. But mentally.for every young person who took to the streets, there is a family behind them _ parents anxious, siblings confused and communities grieving. Gen Z has been called bold. But behind their courage lies fear, trauma and questions no one can answer.
At our community based organisation, we are witnessing the emotional toll. We see parents battling silent depression, children with anxiety, and youth unsure whether to hope or hide. Families burying their sons and daughters need more than sympathy. They need healing spaces. They need trauma informed counseling. They need us all to care.
This moment calls not just for political solutions, but for emotional restoration. let us come together to grieve, support and begin the journey of healing. One family, one heart, one story at a time
