Much has changed for our friends in the LGBTIQ community. But there is still a long, long way to go.

If you or someone you know is a victim of harassment because of s*xual orientation or gender identity, I recommend viewing the encouraging messages and other valuable resources on the It Gets Better Project website, www.itgetsbetter.org.

In these videos LGBT youth share their difficult experience of coming out of the closet to family and friends, as well as their experience in dealing with bullies and discrimination.

We remain optimistic that ultimately negative attitudes toward the LGBT community will change. In the meantime, we urgently need to focus our attention on preventing LGBT youth from yielding to their tormentors and choosing to commit su***de.

Su***de is not the answer. Stay strong. IT GETS BETTER!

The It Gets Better Project wants to remind teenagers in the LGBT community that they are not alone — and it will get better. Visit the website and take the pledge.

New Zealand Legalizes Same S*x Marriage

New Zealand has become the thirteenth country in the world to legalize same-s*x marriage.

Marriage between same-s*x couples was legalized after Labor MP Louisa Wall's (pictured) bill passed its final hurdle at Parliament, reports 3News.

In an address to parliament, Wall told assembled politicians that the vote would send New Zealand down a path of healing. "It now includes all citizens in our state institution of marriage regardless of their s*x, s*xual orientation or gender identity," she said.

MP's voted 77-44 in favor of the Marriage (Definition of Marriage) Amendment Bill, introduced last year from the private member's ballot.

Same-s*x couples wanting to get married will have to wait around four months while the Department of Internal Affairs undergo an upgrade to register the new marriages.

Check out the incredibly moving video below which captures the audience's response to the passing of the bill.

Joseph Kamau was an intern at a public relation firm in Nairobi City and he was dismissed from employment because of his colleagues and his employer's son who did not approve of his dressing ans effeminate nature. They believed his alleged feminine disposition made him incapable of performing his duties.,
From this story,we learn that all Kenyans have rights and should be equally considered for employment and remuneration.

Also..,
11 countries currently allow same-s*x couples to marry including the United States (some states), the Netherlands, South Africa, Canada, Belgium, Norway, Spain, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, and Argentina.

Did you know that..,
The “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” policy that prevented g**s, le****ns, and bis*xuals from openly serving in the military was effective from 1993 to 2011 when it was banned. Transgender individuals are still discriminated from serving openly about their s*x and orientation.

France Passes Gay Marriage Bill

The French Senate has voted to legalize gay marriage in France, which is set to come into law by the summer.

The vote in the upper house of parliament comes despite numerous protests in Paris that saw up to 300,000 conservatives march to defend traditional marriage.

Both houses of parliament will now take up a second reading to consider some small changes to the bill passed in February by the National Assembly, controlled by a Socialist-led majority.

The bill will allow members of the same s*x to marry and also let same-s*x couples adopt children.

Legalizing same-s*x marriage was one of the promises that President Francois Hollande made on his campaign trail last year.

DID YOU KNOW..,
1.In an attempt to distinguish themselves from what they view as a white-dominated LGBT community, some African Americans favor the term SGL (same gender loving)

2.In 1968, Dr. John Money performed the first complete male-to-female s*x-change operation in the United States at Johns Hopkins University.

3.Same-s*x marriage is legal in Belgium, Spain, Canada, South Africa, Norway, the Netherlands, Sweden, Portugal, Iceland, and Argentina. In Mexico, same-s*x marriage is legal but performed only in Mexico City.

5.There is some evidence that increased levels of steroids in the womb increases the chances that a girl will be a le***an.
