DIESEL FUEL INJECTION PUMP TEST BENCH/ INJECTOR TEST BENCH/DIESEL TEST BENCH
This machine is absolutely critical for servicing and maintaining diesel fuel injection pumps and injectors.
It is a specialized, precision machine used by mechanics and technicians to test, calibrate, and adjust mechanical and sometimes electronic diesel fuel injection components (like in-line pumps, distributor pumps, and unit injectors).
Key Components.
✓Main Body/Drive: The large green lower section houses the powerful electric motor and variable speed drive mechanism that spins the fuel injection pump to simulate its operation on an engine.
✓Mounting/Coupling: The red component in the center is the coupling mechanism where the fuel injection pump is securely mounted for testing.
✓Gauges & Controls: The gauges (manometers) and the digital display unit are used to monitor pressure, speed, and timing.
✓Graduated Measuring System: The upper right section with the glass tubes/flasks is the metering unit. This is where the fuel from each cylinder's output is collected and measured to ensure accuracy.
Importance to the Injection Pump
The test bench allows technicians to perform essential checks that cannot be accurately done when the pump is installed on the engine. Its importance lies in guaranteeing the pump's correct performance, which directly impacts engine efficiency, power, and emissions.
Critical Functions and Importance:
1. Precise Fuel Delivery Calibration:
• Importance: This is the most crucial function. The bench measures the volume of fuel delivered by each element (or "cylinder") of the injection pump at various speeds and loads (simulated engine RPMs).
•Goal: To ensure that all elements deliver the exact same amount of fuel, preventing rough running, misfiring, or uneven cylinder temperatures.
2. Check Timing Advance/Retard:
•Importance: It tests the function of the pump's automatic timing advance mechanism (if equipped).
•Goal: Verifies that the fuel is injected at the correct moment in the engine's cycle, which is essential for optimal power and fuel economy.
3. Governor Adjustment:
•Importance: The governor controls the engine's idle speed and maximum speed.
•Goal: The test bench is used to adjust the governor settings to the manufacturer's specifications for smooth idle and safe maximum RPM.
4. Leakage and Pressure Checks:
• Importance: Confirms that the pump is not leaking internally or externally and is building the correct pressures.
•Goal: Ensures reliability and prevents power loss or lubrication issues within the pump.
Diesel Fuel Injection Pump Test Bench is the gold standard tool for diagnosing, repairing, and certifying that an injection pump meets the strict performance requirements needed for a diesel engine to run efficiently and cleanly.
