Leaders of the Mututa Water Project in Mwanganthia Ward have come out strongly to criticize their MCA and MP, accusing them of politicizing a community water project meant to benefit residents.
Speaking, the project leaders warned the MCA against interfering with development initiatives, saying that instead of playing politics, they should focus on delivering services and development to the people who elected them.
The residents stated that since the two leaders have not initiated any meaningful development projects in the area, they have no moral authority to interfere with community-driven projects. They urged them to respect residents’ efforts and instead fulfill their leadership responsibilities.

Residents of Dumuru have come out to urgently appeal to the Meru County government for food, humanitarian support, and clean water, warning that the ongoing drought is pushing them to the brink of starvation.

Political analysts have claimed that Meru leaders teamed up to remove Governor Kawira Mwangaza from office for their own selfish interests, and after achieving their goals, each went their own way.
According to the analysts, the current administration under Mutuma M’ethingia has failed to deliver development to residents. Instead, they allege that the county is now characterized by corruption, misuse of public funds, and mismanagement of resources meant for the people of Meru.
The analysts further stated that during Kawira Mwangaza’s time in office, Meru residents benefited from various development projects, and services were more accessible compared to the current situation. They argue that her removal has negatively affected service delivery and slowed down progress in the county.

Concerns have been raised over the allocation of bursary funds in Meru County after it emerged that out of the KSh 50 million set aside in the county budget, only 17 wards benefited, leaving 46 wards without any allocation.
Residents and leaders claim that not even a single student has received the bursary funds so far, despite the money being budgeted for education support. This has sparked anger among parents and students who depend on the bursaries to continue with their studies.
They further compared the situation with the previous administration under Governor Kawira Mwangaza, saying that bursary funds were distributed openly and fairly, with many students benefiting directly. They are now demanding accountability from the current county government, questioning where the KSh 50 million went and why students have not received the promised support.

They claim that Governor Kawira Mwangaza had allocated funds for the construction of the bridge, but up to now the current county government has not built it. The residents are now demanding answers, questioning where the money that was set aside for the project went.
