Key Responsibilities
✔Ensure regulatory compliance and act as liaison with the Pharmacy and Poisons Board
✔Support branch operations and assist in overall branch management
✔Oversee procurement, warehousing, stock control, FIFO, and expiry management
✔Implement and maintain quality assurance policies and Good Distribution Practices (GDP)
✔Monitor inventory levels, verify deliveries, and maintain accurate documentation
✔Manage supplier relationships, evaluate offers, and negotiate pricing contracts
✔Handle market complaints, authorize credit notes, and manage product returns
✔Ensure continuous availability of high-quality pharmaceutical products
𝐑𝐞𝐪𝐮𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐬
✔Minimum 1 year experience in Procurement or a related role

It strikes fast, dehydrates brutally, and can kill within hours if untreated - 𝗰𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀 𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮’𝘀 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝘆𝗲𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 𝗶𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝘂𝘀 𝗱𝗶𝘀𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗲𝘀. Caused by Vibrio cholerae, this acute diarrhoeal illness spreads through contaminated water and food, thriving in areas with poor sanitation, unsafe water sources, and overcrowding.

Once infected, patients develop 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲 𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗱𝗶𝗮𝗿𝗿𝗵𝗼𝗲𝗮 (𝗿𝗶𝗰𝗲-𝘄𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗿 𝘀𝘁𝗼𝗼𝗹𝘀), vomiting, electrolyte imbalance, and rapid severe dehydration, which can quickly progress to hypovolemic shock and death if medical care is delayed. Children, pregnant women, and populations in informal settlements and drought-prone regions are the most vulnerable.

Despite medical advances, cholera remains lethal in Kenya due to inadequate clean water access, delayed health-seeking behavior, poor hygiene practices, and strained public health infrastructure, especially during floods and humanitarian crises.

𝗖𝗵𝗼𝗹𝗲𝗿𝗮 𝗶𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 - 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗰𝗼𝗻𝘁𝗿𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝗹𝗲 - 𝘁𝗵𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗴𝗵 𝘀𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗲, 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀:
✅ Safe drinking water (boiled, treated, or chlorinated)
✅ Proper sanitation and sewage disposal
✅ Frequent handwashing with soap

𝗜𝗻𝘀𝗶𝗱𝗲 𝗞𝗲𝗻𝘆𝗮’𝘀 𝗧𝗕 𝗖𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗶𝘀: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗥𝗲𝗳𝘂𝘀𝗲𝘀 𝘁𝗼 𝗗𝗶𝗲

It doesn’t scream, it slowly suffocates. Tuberculosis (TB), caused by 𝗠𝘆𝗰𝗼𝗯𝗮𝗰𝘁𝗲𝗿𝗶𝘂𝗺 𝘁𝘂𝗯𝗲𝗿𝗰𝘂𝗹𝗼𝘀𝗶𝘀, remains one of Kenya’s deadliest infectious diseases, spreading through airborne droplets and thriving in overcrowded, poorly ventilated spaces. Despite being preventable and curable, TB continues to exert a heavy toll on public health.

TB primarily attacks the 𝗹𝘂𝗻𝗴𝘀 (𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗕) but can invade other organs - leading to 𝗲𝘅𝘁𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘂𝗹𝗺𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗧𝗕, affecting the spine, brain, kidneys, and lymph nodes. Infected individuals suffer from chronic cough, haemoptysis (coughing blood), night sweats, weight loss, fatigue, and chest pain. The disease is especially severe among people living with HIV, diabetics, smokers, and the malnourished due to weakened immunity.

So why is TB still lethal in Kenya? Late diagnosis, poor treatment adherence, stigma, drug stock-outs, and the rise of 𝗺𝘂𝗹𝘁𝗶-𝗱𝗿𝘂𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝗧𝗕 (𝗠𝗗𝗥-𝗧𝗕) complicate control efforts. Poverty and limited access to quality healthcare further fuel transmission.

𝗘𝗳𝗳𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝘀𝘂𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗶𝗻𝗰𝗹𝘂𝗱𝗲:
