Roles of the Pancreas
1. Blood Sugar Regulation (Endocrine function)
Produces insulin (lowers blood sugar) and glucagon (raises blood sugar).
Maintains stable glucose levels, preventing diabetes and hypoglycemia.
2. Digestion Support (Exocrine function)
Releases enzymes like amylase, lipase, and proteases into the small intestine.
These enzymes help break down carbohydrates, fats, and proteins for proper nutrient absorption.
3. Nutrient Utilization
Without pancreatic enzymes, food isn’t broken down properly, leading to malnutrition, weight loss, bloating, and deficiencies.
